Dear _________:

In accordance with the new Program Integrity Regulations put forth by the U.S. Department of
Education, I am writing to inquire about obtaining authorization for Central Connecticut State
University (CCSU) to offer online academic programs to students living in your state. CCSU
offers distance education to students living in various states throughout the country, and we are
committed to meeting any and all requirements necessary for legal operation of online programs
within your state.

This letter is to inform you of our interest in continuing or beginning to offer distance/online
education to students residing in your state, and to provide you with the necessary information, as
provided below, for determining whether or not authorization will be required.

CCSU is a public University, accredited by the New England Association of Schools and
Colleges, with its most recent ten-year review occurring in October of 2008, followed by the
receipt of its most recent reaccreditation letter in 2009.

Our institution offers two online graduate programs – the M.S. in Data Mining and the Graduate
Certificate in Data Mining. Instruction for both programs, as well as any communication between
faculty and students, takes place exclusively online via Blackboard Vista and through chat rooms.
As a result, CCSU has no established physical presence in your state. We do not engage in any of
the following:
 Operate an instructional site within the state
 Employ faculty members/school representatives to work within the state
 Sponsor organized activities within the state
 Directly advertise to students within the state
     Advertise in local media

With this letter I have also provided a copy of CCSU’s most recent accreditation letter, the
University Charter, and informational sheets describing both online programs. Additionally, our
online course catalogs can be found at http://www.ccsu.edu/page.cfm?p=18, and for general
information about CCSU, please visit our website: www.ccsu.edu.

If you have any questions or need to request any further information or documentation, please
Dr. Paulette Lemma, Associate V.P. for Academic Affairs at lemma@ccsu.edu or

Dr. Paulette Lemma, Associate V.P. for Academic Affairs
Central Connecticut State University
1615 Stanley ST.
Barnard Hall
New Britain, CT 06050.

I look forward to receiving an exemption for CCSU to offer distance/online education in your
state or to learn more about what may be required for authorization.
