I have a cookbook that came with the small Rival slow cooker. Most of the recipes give two options - the low heat (10-12 hours) and the high (5-6 hours) - The small crock pots only have low heat. I think that will help bajahorselady with her post. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++ Beef Stroganoff (E-Z) posted by sandl Makes:2 servings 1/2 pound beef stew meat* ( I brown it first) 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of golden mushroom soup 2 - 3 oz sliced mushrooms or 1 jar sliced mushrooms, drained 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup sour cream 1 1/2 cups hot cooked noodles or rice 1. In 2 to 3 quart slow cooker, mix beef, onion, soup, mushrooms and pepper. 2. Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours or until beef is very tender. 3. Stir sour cream into beef mixture. Salt and pepper meat to taste, put in pot. Add liquid. Cover and cook 10-12 hours. Remove meat and vegatables with spatula thicken gravy if desired. Without vegetables - season roast with salt and pepper and any other seasonings - ad no liquid. Source: Rival Cookbook +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ VEGETABLE & MEAT LASAGNA posted by bluejjazz52 ......for a 4 qt. crockpot 1/2 lb. ground beef, pork or turkey 3/4 cup zucchini or yellow squash, shredded 1/2 cup carrot, shredded 1/2 cup mushrooms, chopped 1 small onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 16 oz. jar spaghetti sauce, your favorite 1/2 tsp. dried oregano 1 tsp. dried basil 1 tsp. fennel seed, ground 1/4 tsp. chili pepper 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper 2 cups flat noodles (kluski, egg noodles, farfelle, etc.) 1 10 oz. pckg. frozen spinach 1 cup ricotta cheese 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded In a large frying pan, brown ground meat over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove from heat & drain any fat. Stir in squash, carrot, mushrooms, onion, garlic, spaghetti sauce & spices. Mix well. Divide sauce into 3 equal parts. Place a third of the sauce mixture into the bottom of a 4 quart crockpot. Cover with half of the uncooked noodles, laid as flat as possible. Spread half of the spinach over the noodles. Drop half of the ricotta by spoonfuls over the spinach. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the mozzarella & 1/3 of the cheddar cheeses. Spread another third of the sauce mixture over the cheese. Layer with the rest of the uncooked noodles laid flat, spinach, ricotta cheese, 1/3 of the mozzarella & 1/3 of the cheddar cheeses. Top with the last of the sauce mixture. Cover with the last of the mozzarella & cheddar cheeses. Cook on low for about 4 - 5 hours. Makes about 4 - 6 servings. Freezes well. Sometimes I toss 1/2 to 1 cup chopped brocolli if I don't have enough spinach. This recipe is fun to play with. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++
