					                            CLASS OF 2011
                         STUDENT RECIPE BOOK
Write a symbolic recipe for yourself. This means your ingredients are not blood, muscle, bone,
and brown hair, but abstract qualities and personality traits (like patience, friendliness, humor).
What is necessary to create you?

First, brainstorm a list of qualities that describe your personality and who you are. This should
include positive and negative traits. Students will be required to bring in three recipes from a
book or the internet to help with their actual recipe. Then, following a standard recipe format,
use your brainstorm to create a list of ingredients and exact measurements. How much patience
do you have in you? How much humor?

After your “Ingredient List” is complete, write a paragraph of instructions, advice about the
proper sequence of steps, and any tips or warnings. Students also need to “name” their recipe
creation, put the creation date (birth date), and include a picture of the finished recipe. This is a
creative assignment, and it should reflect as much originality and creativity as you can generate.
Have fun!

(See rubric for more specific requirements)
