FUNCTIONALITY AND INSTALLATION
ü Each TVC-1030A requires a register connector cable per register. The TVC-1030A’s are factory preset for a specific register make and model. (The registers can be of different makes and models.) ü Each TVC-1030A comes with a DC 9 VOLT, 1 Amp (120 VAC, 60Hz) power supply.
STEP #1: OBTAIN ASSISTANCE (if you are not an authorized register dealer)
Have an authorized register dealer install the register end of the connector cable to the register.
STEP #2: SET THE REGISTER ADDRESS
Each TVC-1030A must have a unique register address. It is easier to set the register address before installing. (see page two, Programming).
STEP #3: CONNECT THE REGISTER CONNECTOR CABLE TO THE TVC-1030A
Connect the other end of the register cable (with the DB25 connector) to the port marked REGISTER on the TVC-1030A.
STEP #4: ATTACH THE DATA CABLE TO THE TVC-1030A
A. Operating on a LAN, the TVC-1030A Register Interfaces are daisy chained together, with the last unit connecting to the TVC-2100 Series Video Text Inserter. Daisy chain the TVC-1030A’s with one twisted pair, shielded, 22 gage, twoconductor data cable. Data cable runs should not exceed 1,000 feet. The data cable connects at positions one and two on the TVC-1030A terminal strip. B. Attach the spade terminals supplied with the TVC-1030A to each of the individual wires. C. Insert the spade terminals onto the terminal strip and tighten the screws to lock it in place. (The drain wire should not be connected to the TVC-1030A; it will connect to the TVC-2100 Series Video Text Inserter). Where two data cables are attached to a TVC-1030A, twist the two drain wires into a pigtail. Be sure to connect the same terminal numbers on all units together (one to one, two to two).
STEP #5: MOUNT THE TVC-1030A
A. Insure that a 120 VOLT AC outlet is within 6 feet of where the TVC-1030A is to be installed. B. Select the location of the Register Interfaces. (NOTE: the Register Interface needs to be six feet or closer to the register.) Position the units where they will not be inadvertently battered (example: under the register counter). C. Using the cover of the TVC-1030A as a template, mark the mounting holes with an awl or pencil and drill starter holes for your mounting screws. D. Secure the unit to its mounting position using mounting screws (not supplied).
STEP #6: POWER UP THE TVC-1030A
A. Insert the power supply into a standard 120 VOLT socket. Be sure the power supply is secure. B. Power up the TVC-1030A by inserting the phono plug of the DC 9 VOLT power supply into the 9 VOLT POWER input on the TVC-1030A. The green LED illuminates when the unit(s) are powered up. See the TVC-2100 Installation Manual to continue installation of the system.

PROGRAMMING
THE
TVC-1030A
Unlike the TVC-1030 which is programmed with a touch-tone telephone, the TVC-1030A Register Interfaces are programmed with DIP switches. The DIP switches are located at S1 on the TVC-1030A printed circuit board and are accessible by removing the cover. 1. REGISTER ADDRESS: Each TVC-1030A must have a unique address from one to 16. The following set of diagrams show the DIP switch settings for each register address.
