Industry research is showing a rise in each of these trends. o PQ Media, April 2007: Video advertisements are projected to be the fastest growing category of web advertisements with total spending on consumer-generated media predicted to reach $757 million annually by 2010, increasing at a compound annual rate of 106.1 percent. Nielsen, October 2007: Consumers rated the trustworthiness of consumer generated reviews almost twice (61 percent) that of paid search advertisements (34 percent). Despite all the various types of advertising, consumers still put their most faith in other consumers. o The Golden Rule of CGA – Know Thy Ad Creator This panel will provide attendees with several unique perspectives from all angles of the CGA trend. On the brand side of the equation, Edward Kim, direct marketing manager of Slim-Fast, will discuss challenges associated with giving control to consumer ad creators and examples, tips and strategies for engaging in safe, brand-friendly campaigns. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Kevin Nalty, viral videologist and founder of Will Video for Food, will represent the ad creators and provide insight into how to reach talented consumers online, and what motivates them to participate in brand-sponsored campaigns. Angela Wonson, senior VP of media relations for Edelman, spans both sides as media professional who also enjoys participating in CGA competitions in her free time. Representing interactive agencies, Ben Davis, cofounder of Blastro.com, will share real-life examples of brand-sponsored CGA campaigns that engaged online audiences and created word-of-mouth buzz.
