The kite string is 28 m long and it makes an angle of 67o with the ground. How high is Heidi’s kite from the ground? 2. Paul is standing at the bottom of a hill that is 150 m high. He measures the angle of elevation of the top of the hill to be 32o. If the slope of the hill is constant, how far will his walk to the top of the hill be? 3. A surveyor looks up 75o at the top of a tall building. If he is standing 30metres away from the building, how tall is the building? (Draw a diagram) 4. From a horizontal distance of 80.0 m, the angle of elevation to the top of a flagpole is 18°. Calculate the height of the flagpole to the nearest tenth of a metre. 5. The angle of elevation of the sun is 68° when a tree casts a shadow 14.3 m long. How tall is the tree, to the nearest tenth of a metre? 6. A person flying a kite has released 176 m of string. The string makes an angle of 27° with the ground. How high is the kite? How far away is the kite horizontally? Answer to the nearest metre.
