created a Green Building Program. This innovative program offers you numerous ways
to certify your next project as green, and qualify for significant rebates and savings that
will increase your return on investment.
In addition to giving you easy access to these money-saving programs, we’re here to
assist and support you every step of the way. That includes helping you navigate the
green ratings in your quest to qualify for the program of your choice.

Top 10 Ways to Make your
Building Project Green
1. DESIGN AND BUILD TO EXCEED TITLE 24 BUILDING STANDARDS FOR ENERGY.
In addition to possible federal tax deductions or credit, commercial projects are eligible for up to $200,000 in
rebates for energy-efficient building systems and residential projects up to $100,000.
2. EXCEED UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE STANDARDS.
Reduce costs installing a high-efficiency toilet or a zero-water urinal.
3. LIMIT LANDSCAPING WATER USE BY UTILIZING SMARTIMER IRRIGATION SYSTEMS.

Participation has its privileges. Here’s what you can expect:
1. CHOOSE A GREEN BUILDING RATING PROGRAM
We’ll point you in the right direction. At no cost to you, we’ll get you up to speed
on available green building certification programs and their requirements so Many green building projects
you can choose the rating program that is best for your project. If you need further are achieving a LEED rating
help, we can refer you to our free consulting service that will provide you with within their budgets, and
technical assistance on your Anaheim project. in the same cost range as
non-LEED projects.
2. DESIGN YOUR PROJECT
With your chosen rating program and its requirements in hand, you can get started
designing your dream project. If all looks good, we’ll authorize your plan check fee
waiver and put you on the VIP fast track to approval. You can expect final Building
Department approval in record time.
3. BUILD YOUR PROJECT
While you are putting the final touches on construction, you can start applying for
the many energy and water incentives available. This will help boost your bottom
line, reduce payback time on your investment and lower operating costs.
4. GET CERTIFIED
When your project is finished, and certified, you’ll receive your coveted green
building rating. At that time, you can apply for the certification incentives under
your chosen green building rating. That means additional cost savings coming

WHICH STRUCTURES QUALIFY FOR GREEN BUILDING INCENTIVES?
Any new or renovated structures, from office buildings, storefronts and condominiums to multi-family or single-family
residences, can qualify as long as the project receives third-party green building rating or certification.
DO I HAVE TO BE AN ANAHEIM RESIDENT OR BUSINESS TO QUALIFY FOR THE CITY GREEN
BUILDING PROGRAM?
No. You qualify simply if your project is within city limits and receives third-party green building rating or certification.
HOW MUCH CAN I SAVE BY BUILDING GREEN?
This depends on which measures you take to incorporate green building features into your project. You could potentially
save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the life of your project. With Anaheim Public Utilities incentives, even
more significant savings can be realized. Make sure you also check out tax credits for solar energy systems, as well
as energy and water efficiency measures. Tax deductions of up to $1.80 per square foot may be available for new or
