Chemical Reactions

• Process in which one or more
  substances change into a new
  substance
• Chemical Equations-
   • Represents chemical reaction
     using symbols & numbers to
     include mole ratio of elements in
     the reaction :
•A + B  C
• General Formula:
  Reactants  Products
Rules for Writing Equations

• 1. Write the correct
  formula for each
  compound
• 2. Balance the equation,
  making sure the number of
  atoms of each element is
  equal on both sides
• 3. Can NOT change
  subscripts
• 4. Diatomic elements have a
  subscript of 2 when alone

2. Decomposition Reaction-
