PowerPoint is a very useful tool when we want to

 Open the PowerPoint program

•    TO INSERT A TEXT BOX
    1. Click the Text Box button on the Drawing toolbar.
    2. Click on your slide, hold the mouse button down and
       drag to the approximate size and shape of the text
       box you require.
    3. When you release the mouse button you will see a
       selected text box with a flashing I beam showing you
       where your text will be entered when you type.
    4. Type the text and then click anywhere outside the
       text box.
     ROTATING A TEXT BOX
1. Click on the text box to select



2. Click and drag the green rotation
   handle to the required position.

•    To rotate a text box placeholder which
     came with one of the design templates:
    1. First select the text box (notice there is no
       green rotation handle)
    2. Click on the Draw button on the Drawing
       toolbar
    3. Select Rotate or Flip and then Free Rotate
       or any of the other rotation options.

•   To start the presentation from the first slide
    –   From the Slide Show menu select View Show
    –   From the View menu select Slide Show View
    –   Press F5 on the keyboard
•   To start the presentation from the current slide
    –   Click on the Slide Show from current view button
        on the lower left of the screen

• TO MOVE FORWARDS (advance one slide):
  – Return key
  – Page Down key
  – Cursor down or cursor right keys
  – Left mouse button (except when you have the pen
    switched on)
  – Space Bar
  – Use the Forward button located on the toolbar
    situated on the bottom left of the slide show screen
• To move backwards (advance one slide
  back):
  –   Page Up key
  –   Up or left cursor keys
  –   Backspace key
  –   Use the Previous button located on the toolbar
      situated on the bottom left of the slide show screen
             Slide Show View
• TO PAUSE THE PRESENTATION WITH A
  BLACK OR WHITE SCREEN
  – Press the B key to show a black screen or the W key
    to show a white screen. Press the same key to return
    to the slide show.
• TO ABORT THE PRESENTATION:
  – Press the ESC key
• TO JUMP TO A PARTICULAR SLIDE:
  1. Right click the mouse anywhere on the screen
  2. Select Go to Slide and a list of all the slide titles will
     be displayed
  3. Click on the slide title you wish to jump to.
OR,
  1. Press the slide number on the keyboard and then
     Enter.
        Animation Effects
• TO SET A SLIDE TRANSITION
 1. Select the slide you wish to set a slide
    transition for in any view.
 2. From the Slide Show menu select Slide
    Transition.
 Or,
   Open the Task Pane and select the Slide
   Transition Task Pane option.
 3.From the Apply to selected slides list click
   on the transition you require.
            Animation Effects
•   TO APPLY AN ANIMATION SCHEME
    1. Select the slide you wish to set an animation
       scheme for in any view.
    2. Slide Show menu -> Animation Schemes.
    OR,
       Task Pane-> Slide Design – Animation Schemes
       Task Pane option.
    OR,
       Design button-> Animation Schemes. (Sorter view)
    3. From the Apply to selected slides list click on the
       animation scheme you require.
– Subtle, Moderate and Exciting.

•   CUSTOM ANIMATIONS
    1. select a slide with clip art or a picture
    2. click on the picture you want to animate
    3. Menu Bar-> Slide Show-> Custom
       Animation
    4. Add Effect button

    – Apply to All Slides button at the bottom of
      the Task Pane
•   PREVIEWING THE ANIMATION

    1. Play button located at the bottom of the
       Task Pane.

                     Printing
1. Select Print from the File menu.
2. Make sure you have the correct option under
   the Print what section.
  –   Slides
  –   Handouts
  –   Notes Pages
  –   Outline View
3. Click the Preview button if you wish to check
   what will be printed. (Click on the Close button
   to return back to the Print dialogue box)
4. Click OK
    How to create a presentation?

• select Create a new presentation
  – From the New Presentation task pane select what
    you wish to create your new presentation from.
  – Scroll through all the different design templates
    pictured in the Slide Design task pane and find one
    you like.
