Outline and Interest Form
The Georgia Youth Summit is designed to create an awareness of state/local issues, to enhance youth-adult
partnerships on the local level, and to equip youth to become active locally in the betterment of their
community. The Summit will include fast paced, experiential education developed through the leadership of
the planning committee.
The event, which will begin at 2PM on Saturday and adjourn with lunch at 12PM on Monday, is a collaboration
of the Georgia Rural Development Council and Georgia 4-H Youth.
Youth-adult partnerships are a critical element of the Georgia Youth Summit. The program is designed to
empower county teams of youth and adults to enhance their local communities. Each county receives full
sponsorship for four youth delegates and one adult delegate. To optimize the experience of everyone in
attendance, it is necessary for the adult volunteer to provide leadership to the county team.
Prior to the Event
Prepare the county team by facilitating the completion of assignments outlined in the Pre-Conference
Preparation Packet, available at www.georgiayouthsummit.org. Youth will be prepared to discuss the
four issue areas: Education, Safety, Health and Community Economic Development as they relate to

Become a Certified 4-H Overnight Chaperone. This training and screening process will prepare you to
be an effective adult leader and ensure that you and your county are in compliance with University of

Serve as a chaperone. Attend all adult meetings.
Participate as a county delegate in the large and small group sessions throughout the summit.
Assist the county team in processing information relative to their county as well as developing the local
action plan for the county.
Following the Event
Assist in coordinating the completion of the county project.
Submit follow up report of county project.
