Position Description:
The Training and Organizational Development Manager will create and manage Seattle Goodwill’s
(SGW) organization wide training activities and long-term development strategy. Ensuring that programs
and training plans meet short and long term goals of SGW and the Human Resources department.
This role will be required to: coordinate resources to ensure efficient delivery of all training programs;
assist with identifying key training issues assist with organization’s development and change initiatives;
manage training projects and initiatives; supervise the work of others; provide direct training support.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities

       Develop and provide a variety of required employee training programs related to: supervision,
        leadership, retail, orientation, and competencies.
       Identify, produce, and evaluate training resources to meet diverse learning styles. Utilize e-
        learning techniques when appropriate.
       Measure, track and evaluate the effectiveness of all training courses.
       Identify training and development needs within Seattle Goodwill (SGW), through job analysis,
        appraisal schemes and regular consultation with managers.
       Facilitate an effective learning process by developing, coordinating and offering training in a
        positive learning environment.
       Identify and implement long-term training strategy.
       Amend and revise training programs as necessary, in order to adapt to the changes that occur in
        the work environment.
       Collaborate with managers of each department to determine individual development needs and
        recommend and implement the necessary programs.
       Produce training materials and manuals using appropriate and available technology.
       Recommend appropriate educational and developmental protocols and procedures to
       Analyze data linking training and design to performance and operational processes.
       Establish, implement and provide policy guidance for employee recognition program.
       Maintain current understanding of related industry and training related fields.
       Participate in other activities or perform other related tasks as assigned by the Vice President for
        Human Resources.

Essential Qualifications and Key Competencies:

Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a nationally accredited college or university
    Five (5) years professional training and development experience or equivalent combination of
       Two (2) years supervisory experience
       Three (3) years recent experience using MS Office software
       Knowledge of creative training techniques, adult learning, and curriculum design is desired.
       Practical knowledge of Human Resources and employment best practices is desired.

Essential Job Functions
Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 10lbs., finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor
functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Able to traverse a wide variety of physical environments without
assistance. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing; including those who have
limited English skills, large and small groups and individuals. Able to use standard office equipment
without assistance. This job requires time away from this position’s work site. Travel responsibilities can
include visiting store locations, attending offsite meets and events.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time exempt position. Criminal background check and drug test will be conducted on
