 For residents of Hoboken, NJ there is a wonderful tool and resource you can use to enjoy a wide
collection of reading material. The Hoboken Public Library is absolutely filled with wonderful
offerings with over five million items available on the shelves of the 75 member libraries.

This library offers residents an expansive collection of library materials/tools, books, programs,
technology, and staff that is always ready to help you out. After you get your Hoboken Library card
you'll have access to borrowing in person or online. The library card also lets you use the BCCLS
databases, which include Ebscohost, Infotrac, and Proquest.

This is an excellent way to learn about the community and its history. There are even more than
1,000 black and white photos to enjoy and really get a taste of what life was like. There are oral
history transcripts from residents and a variety of historical documents. The Sinatra collection of
material (books, memorabilia, and photographs) is widely appreciated drawing visitors from as far
as overseas to view it.

There is a wide selection of audio books, movies, magazines, databases, and CDs, all of which
can be accessed with your Hoboken library card. There is information on cultural events such as
book clubs, films, concerts, lectures, children and teen programs, and more.

Of course the library offers free Internet access and there are public computers that have
Microsoft Office Software, ideal for students. Any questions you have for the staff about reference
material can be asked in person, on the phone, or by email.

In order to promote literacy and education the Children's and Young Adult departments host local
schools by letting them bring their classes right to the library. What's great is that these visits can
be customized to meet the students needs. For instance, if they are currently doing research on a
certain period in history the session at the library will discuss this topic.

For the little kids there are story-times scheduled for toddlers and infants. Teens will find weekly
activities as well. There are always events happening, so its wise to check the librarys event
calendar for upcoming ones. The Hoboken Public Library is located at 500 Park Ave. Its hours
vary from week to week so its wise to view the weekly schedule.

Brand new to the library is the Staff Recommendations Blog. This allows the staff to contribute a
weekly blog post. These posts can be about anything from books, to movies, to music. It gives
readers a chance to discover new favorites.

There are also adult learning programs to sign up for such as the Writers Group, DIY Spring
Birdwatching, Computer Classes, a Monthly Movie, a Video Game Tournament and Comic Book
Trivia Event, and plenty more.

This year will mark the very first Book Festival, which will be hosted by the library and will be held
in Church Square Park, right across from the library. This festival will take place June 8 from 11AM
to 5PM.
