This environment encourage and fosters the development of confident, articulate and engaged young women, with a vision for a positive future and the initiative to make a difference. Welcome Annesley College (formerly Methodist Ladies College) is a Uniting Church day and boarding school for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College is distinguished by the sense of community and caring between students, staff and parents. Annesley provides well resourced facilities that encompass a broad range of disciplines and encourage focus in specialty areas such as science, performing arts and physical education. Established in 1902, the College has a proud tradition of providing students with opportunities to experiment, learn and strive to achieve their dreams. In 2008, 93% of Annesley graduates gained University entry to their preferred course of study. Each year the College offers a number of scholarships for students with special talents and academic ability. Eligible students are welcome to apply for more than one scholarship, but can only hold one scholarship at a time. We reserve the right not to award any particular Scholarship if the standard is not met by the applicants. All Scholarship recipients are expected to conform to the conditions of the Scholarship which are subject to annual review. Linda Douglas Principal Application Guidelines Fees • An entrance fee of Aus $80 must accompany each application form. • Cheques are to be made payable to Annesley College. • Application forms must be returned to the Admission Manager. • Please note for all Academic Scholarships the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) imposes a surcharge of Aus $100 on late applications. This is in addition to the application fee and is applicable for each school to which an application is made. Requirements • All candidates must submit a written application including the completed application form, recent school reports and personal portfolio to the Admissions Manager prior to sitting the examination. • Candidates may also be required to sit for specific exams or auditions relating to the individual scholarships as listed below. Procedure • Registration for the ACER examination can be completed online via the Annesley College website • Registrations close Friday 15 January 2010. • Application forms can be downloaded from www.annesley.sa.edu.au • Written applications close Friday 12 February 2010. Examination • The examinations will be held on Saturday 13 February 2010 at 9.00am. • Interviews for selected candidates will take place in February 2011. • Scholarship offers will be made at the beginning of March 2011. • Successful candidates will be contacted personally and will be given one week to accept the offer. Academic Scholarships The Academic Scholarships are awarded on the understanding that the recipient will finish her secondary education at Annesley College. The continuation of the scholarship each year is subject to the recipient making good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard and contributing to the life of the College through participation in co-curricular activities and sport. Extra Application Requirements Junior School candidates are required to sit for the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Primary Scholarship Program (PSP) examination. Year 5/6 Academic Scholarships This is an Entrance Scholarship and is open to girls wishing to enter the College in Year 5 or 6 in 2011. There are two Year 5/6 Scholarships. Each one provides a remission of 50% of tuition fees for 5 years. Year 7 and 8 Academic Scholarships These Scholarships are available to current students and to girls wishing to enter the College in Years 7 and 8 in 2011. The ME Patchell Scholarship is awarded to the highest ranking student entering Year 8 in 2011. The Scholarship provides 75% remission of tuition fees for 5 years. In addition to the ME Patchell Scholarship three additional academic scholarships are offered. They provide a remission of 50% of tuition fees for 5-6 years. Secondary Scholarships (Year 9-12) This is an Entrance Scholarship and is open to girls entering the College in Years 9 to 11 in 2011. There are two scholarships on offer for 2-4 years. These scholarships provide 50% remission of tuition fees until the completion of Year 12. Boarding and Isolated Student Scholarships Boarding Scholarships are offered to students wishing to enter the College in Years 7-11 in 2011. Scholarship offers will be subject to the availability of boarding places. There are ten scholarships offered each year. Each one provides a 30% remission of boarding fees until the completion of Year 12. One scholarship is reserved for a student eligible for the Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) allowance. Music Scholarship Music is an integral part of school life at Annesley College. The Music Program at Annesley College offers dedicated music students a diverse range of opportunities to enhance their musicianship. In support of the Music Program the College offers a Scholarship to exceptional music students to further develop their musicianship in a focused learning environment. There is one scholarship available to students entering Years 6-11 in 2011. This scholarship is open to new and current students. The duration of the scholarship is for 2-5 years depending on the year level of the successful candidate. This scholarship provides a 30% remission of the tuition fees. The continuation of this scholarship each year is subject to the recipient continuing with her music studies. Extra Application Requirements Candidates are required to sit for an Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) examination. Students may sit either the Scholarship Selection Test (SST) or Australian Co-operative Entry Program (ACEP) examination. Candidates selected on the basis of their written application, will undertake a music audition and be interviewed by the Principal. Auditions and interviews for selected candidates will take place on Friday 19 February 2010. Performing Arts (Dance and Drama) Scholarships The Performing Arts Program at Annesley College is a vibrant adjunct to the strong academic emphasis of the College. The Program is designed to train and to educate, to develop talent and to inspire artistry in every student. In support of the Studio at Annesley College Program the College offers Scholarships to exceptional dance and/or drama students to further develop their performance skills in a rigorous and engaging learning environment. There is one scholarship available to students entering Years 6-11 in 2011. This is open to new and current students. The duration of the scholarship is for 2-5 years depending on the year level of the successful candidate. The scholarships provide 30% remission of tuition fees. The continuation of this scholarship each year is subject to the recipients continuing with their Performing Arts studies. Extra Application Requirements Candidates are required to sit for an Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) examination. Students may sit either the Scholarship Selection Test (SST) or Australian Co-operative Entry Program (ACEP) examination. Candidates selected on the basis of their written application, will undertake an audition and be interviewed by the Principal. Auditions and interviews for selected candidates will take place on Friday 19 February 2010. Principal’s Scholarship The Principal’s Scholarship is awarded to girls who demonstrate an all-round ability academically and strong extra-curricular involvement and endeavour. The Scholarship recognises girls who have a passion for learning and life and a strong sense of community and compassion. There is one scholarship available to students entering Years 6-11 in 2011. This scholarship is open to new and current students. The duration of the scholarship is for 2-5 years depending on the year level of the successful candidate. The scholarship provides 30% remission of tuition fees. Old Scholars’ Scholarship This Scholarship is for daughters and granddaughters of Old Scholars who are current members of the MLC/Annesley Old Scholars’ Association. There is one scholarship available to a student entering Years 6-11 in 2011. This scholarship is open to new and current students. The duration of the scholarship is for 2-5 years depending on the year level of the successful candidate. The scholarship provides 30% remission of tuition fees. General Excellence Scholarship This Scholarship recognises girls who are engaged in the life of their community or in the life of the College. It encourages academic endeavour. There are four scholarships available to students entering Years 5-11 in 2011. This scholarship is open to new and current students. The duration of the scholarship is for 2-5 years depending on the year level of the successful candidate. The scholarship provides 25% remission of tuition fees. Indigenous Scholarships Annesley College, as part of the Uniting Church ethos, has a moral responsibility to promote the value of diversity in educational provision, expression and access. There are two scholarships available to Indigenous students entering Year 8 in 2011. The duration of this scholarship is 5 years and is awarded in full by the Yalari Limited.
