Dear Neighbour

We are writing to inform you that work as part of a £326m project to upgrade the London
Overground network and improve its services is about to begin in your area.

This scheme, jointly funded by Transport for London, the Olympic Delivery Authority, Network
Rail and the Department for Transport, is being taken forward by Network Rail who has fast-
tracked the programme of works to ensure its completion ahead of the Olympics.

The project itself will include a significant signalling upgrade, the renewal of approximately
seven kilometres of tracks and 69 sets of points as well as some new lengthened platforms.
Transport for London will also take the opportunity to fully refurbish its managed stations during
this time to minimise disruptions.

To enable the work to take place over the next 18 months, various London Overground services
will be temporarily suspended. TfL will provide alternative travel arrangements together with the
necessary information to keep passengers informed and connected to London’s public transport
network.

As part of this project, from early November until the end of January 2010 we will be carrying
out work at Kentish Town West Station to extend both platforms at the north end of the
station. This is required to accommodate four carriage trains on the route from the middle of
2010.

This work will involve:
 Delivery of materials to the site
 Mini piling and construction of concrete foundations
 Construction of a structural steel frame
 Refurbishment of the brick arches
    Erecting fences and barriers.

Following the completion of this work Transport for London will refurbish the station facilities.

From Monday to Friday we will work from 8am until 6pm, Saturdays from 8am until 1pm and
Sundays from 8am until 8pm. Preparation and demobilisation work will also be undertaken for
one hour at the beginning and end of each day. Additionally exceptional out of hours may be
undertaken.

Most materials will be delivered by road via Wilkin Street Mews and lifted up to track level by a
road-crane. Excavators and other plant, for use at rail level, will be of a “Road Rail” type and will
be brought on and off the tracks clear of the station area.

We are committed to working with the local community and will endeavour to keep disruption to
a minimum whilst we carry out this planned work. We have been in consultation with the
appropriate officers in the London Borough of Camden regarding our working hours and
activities.
