OBJECTIVES
Computer-aided design of advanced materials and technologies was made possible late in the XX century due to a
high level of computer technologies. The feasibility of predicting material properties, estimating the efficiency of
technological processes and reducing the expenditures for experimental investigations by means of computer
techniques attracts great attention of the specialists in physics, mechanics, materials science to problems relating to
computer-aided design.
Physical mesomechanics of materials is a basis for computer-aided design of new materials. A solid under loading is
considered as a multilevel self-organizing system where shear stability loss occurs in a self-consistent way at micro-,
meso- and macroscale levels. This gives an impetus to development of a computer-aided design of materials and
technologies.
Problems of computer-aided design, including development of computational methods and models, numerical codes
and software design, computer simulation of technological processes, etc., were the main topics of International
Conferences on Computer-Aided Design of Advanced Materials and Technologies (CADAMT) held in Russia. This
scientific trend has also attracted considerable attention at International Conferences “MESOFRACTURE’96”,
Tomsk, Russia, 1996, “MESOMECHANICS’98”, Tel-Aviv, Israel, 1998; “IWCMM”, Germany, 1999-2002, “MESO-
MECHANICS’2000”,        Xi’an,    China,    2000;    “MESOMECHANICS’2001”,          Tomsk,    Russia,     2001;
“MESOMECHANICS’2002”, Aalborg, Denmark, 2002.
Following the success of the previous International Conferences, the VII International Conference “CADAMT’2003”
aims at providing a forum for the exchange of information on current developments in this field.
Five main research areas will be in the focus of the Conference:
   Physical mesomechanics as a basis of computer-aided design of advanced materials and technologies
   Numerical methods for deformation and fracture modeling
   Simulation of technological processes
   Expert systems and inverse problems
   Development of computer codes and software for computer-aided design of materials

 The Conference will take place in Tomsk, Russia.

 Tomsk, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Siberia, was founded in 1604 and it will celebrate the 400
 anniversary next year. The wooden architecture of the city, preserved from old times, is harmoniously combined with
 modern buildings. The present-day Tomsk is an important scientific and cultural center in the east of Russia. The
 city called Siberian Athens has 6 universities and more than 20 scientific research institutes.

 CALL FOR PAPERS
 A prospective author is requested to submit a 250-500 word abstract in English to the Conference Secretariat.
 Abstracts should be sent in hard copy by mail and in electronic form by e-mail (in MS Word or RTF format only) as
 soon as possible and no later than May 1, 2003.
 A book of abstracts will be published before the Workshop and will be available at the time of registration. The
 selected papers will be issued in the International Journal ‘Physical Mesomechanics’.
