					   Fort Worth Fire
Fighters Association
  2007 Collective Bargaining Campaign
    Background
In June 2007, Fort Worth City
 management threatened to reduce
    firefighter retirement benefits.
Attempts to engage the city in good
  faith discussions concerning this
        ill-advised action failed.

  Consequently, the Fort Worth Fire
 Fighters Association gathered over
   8,000 signatures from Fort Worth
residents who agreed that Fort Worth
needed a better, more fair system for
working with the city on critical issues
 like staffing levels, benefits, wages,
     working hours and conditions.
Ballot Proposition Language
“Adoption of the state law applicable to
fire fighters that establishes collective bargaining
if a majority of the affected employees favor
    representation by an employee association,
preserves the prohibition against strikes and
lockouts, and provides penalties for strikes and
                      lockouts.”
