Job Description
Title: Janitorial Manager Division: Building Department: Building & Grounds
GENERAL PURPOSE Performs a variety of lead or field supervisory, full performance maintenance tasks requiring a wide range of skills essential to the custodial operations of the county. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Building & Grounds Superintendent. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Provides close to general supervision to Building Custodians. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manages day-to-day custodial schedules; monitors custodial operations and maintains all Park County MSDS books for cleaning products; allocates personnel and resources as needed to meet custodial deadlines; monitors equipment, tools, and materials necessary for the performance of tasks; creates division-purchasing program; orders and replenishes supplies as needed. Delegates project assignments; conducts staff training; monitors work in progress and ensures timely completion; evaluates quality of work and makes recommendations affecting employee advancement, retention, discipline or termination; ensures all work is performed with regard to personal and public safety. Makes recommendations for annual budgetary needs for custodial operations; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with established spending limitations. Gathers weekly time sheets; verifies time worked; performs computer entry of work hours as needed to generate regular payroll Schedules specialized training sessions and workshops, i.e., carpet care, blood borne pathogens, chemical applications, etc. coordinates training through outside organizations or agencies. In the absence of sufficient staff, to cover for time off or sick leave, performs facility care and cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, floor stripping and refinishing, carpet cleaning, auto scrubbing, etc. Sweeps, buffs, dusts, strips, waxes, washes, and polishes hard surface floors; washes and cleans walls, door frames, doors, and glass; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans disinfects and sanitizes rest room sinks and bowls; washes windows; vacuums and shampoos carpets and entry rugs and mats; maintains work closets and monitors availability of supplies. Operates various cleaning equipment such as power buffer, carpet extraction machine, etc.; mixes chemicals as needed to perform specialized cleaning functions. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of janitorial manager’s county vehicle. Performs general facility security checks; checks door locks and other systems for proper operation, allowing access to facilities during regular work hours. Notifies supervisor or appropriate authorities when an emergency occurs during your shift. Performs miscellaneous seasonal or periodic duties; performs various logistical and minor maintenance duties; sets up for special events, moves tables, chairs, and podiums; assembles tables and miscellaneous furniture upon delivery, signs for deliveries; occasionally assists in performing general maintenance; replaces burned out lamps.

Requires traveling throughout the county to supervise and supply custodians working in various Park County facilities. Performs related duties as assigned. Janitorial Manager, page 2 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education and Experience A. Graduation from high school; plus six (6) months of specialized training in custodial practices or related field; AND Five (5) years of experience performing above or related duties; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of MSDS guidelines; procedures, tools, equipment, and materials used in custodial work; safety practices of custodial work and use of cleaning agents and equipment. Ability to operate tools and equipment used in custodial work; follow oral and written instructions; perform heavy lifting and other duties requiring moderate physical strength; develop working relationship with other employees and supervisor(s).

Special Qualifications: On-call 24 hours per day and must posses a valid Wyoming Drivers License.

Work Environment: Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing essential to the performance of the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity needed. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, discriminating thinking. Frequent local travel required in normal course of job performance. Occasionally exposed to high work places, volatile materials, toxic materials and confined workspaces. Strength of arms, hands, legs, and back required in the performance of essential functions. *****
