monthly speakers and I-Day. He also served the Chapter as Chairman of
I-Day and as Director. Hayden is a Past President of the Dallas Independent

The CPCU luncheon in October 1990 was attended by 133. Average
attendance for that year was 188 per meeting by year-end. Sixteen
committees were in full swing. We had 47 new designees. The seventh
annual I-Day in November 1990 had 648 in attendance. At the past-
president’s luncheon in February 1991, 22 past-presidents attended. “My
role as President was successful only because of the other officers, board,
committees and members who wanted to be professionals in their own
careers.”

Since retiring in 1998 Hayden enjoys tennis, golf and traveling as well as
visiting his East Texas lake home with his wife, Peggy.
Jack is president and CEO of International Risk
Management Institute, Inc. also known as IRMI. IRMI

professionals on the leading edge of risk management
and insurance via a vast reference library, a broad
curriculum of online continuing education courses, and
educational conferences. Jack holds BBA and MBA
degrees from the University of Georgia, where he
majored in risk management, as well as the CPCU,
CRIS, and ARM designations. In 1996, he was honored
as Georgia’s Outstanding Insurance Alumnus of the
                           year.

Jack was president of the Dallas CPCU Chapter during
the 1991-1992 chapter year. The most notable chapter
accomplishment that year was the combination of the
Dallas I-Day with the IIAD’s Insurance Convention.
Jack P. Gibson Nearly 1,000 people attended the combined event as
CPCU President 1991-1992 opposed to 600 who had attended the previous year’s
CPCU I-Day. While the two organizations recently
decided to go their separate ways, the combined event
                           was successful for two decades.

Jack also served the CPCU Society at the national level
for many years as a member of the public relations
                           committee, annual conference committee, nominating
                           committee, and board of directors.
   Phyllis Cowan

Tom had a 35 year career with Employers
                 Casualty Company/ Employers General
Insurance Group with last position being
                 Executive Vice President.

He received CPCU designation in 1985.
Served as Dallas CPCU chapter President
                 1996 and 1997 .

He won the national CPCU Outstanding
Chapter award for Large Chapters in 1996
Started the very first Dallas CPCU
                 Chapter golf tournament in 1996
benefiting Easter Seals. Played at Chase
Oaks and Red Cashion was guest speaker
                 and tournament host.

Tom P. Vick In 2007 started my own business Natural
                 Health Advisory Institute which now
CPCU President provides education and inspiration in the
1996-1997 use of natural healing therapies for
chronic health conditions to over 13,000
                 monthly readers.
Maureen is the principal research analyst for Commercial Auto Insurance
and the Classification Cross-Reference. She is also a coauthor of
Commercial Liability Insurance and The MCS-90 Book.
Maureen’s first job in insurance was as a workers’ compensation rate clerk.
More importantly, in her opinion earning the CPCU designation in 1980
was the single most important decision she ever made in setting a course
for her career. Except for the Institutes’ General Insurance Courses which
she had taken years earlier, CPCU was the first course of study she had
attempted since her high school graduation.
Once Maureen received the CPCU, she immediately began studying for the
ARM designation; and then not too long after that, enrolled in night classes
at UTD to attain a bachelor of science in business administration (BSBA).
As it happened, her job with IRMI came about as a result of meeting Jack
at a CPCU event at about the time she was finishing her degree and was
working for a company where she felt that education was not highly
valued. Affiliation with CPCUs over the years has led to many great
opportunities and has enriched her life in more ways than she can count.
Maureen holds a BS degree, magna cum laude, from the University of
Texas at Dallas and an MBA in risk management and insurance from the
University of North Texas. She is a Chartered Property Casualty
Underwriter (CPCU) and holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
Maureen McLendon and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Ms.
CPCU President McLendon is an active member of the CPCU Society, having held a
number of chairmanships and offices, including president of the Dallas
1997-1998 Chapter, regional vice president, national director—South Central Region,
chair of the Risk Management Interest Section, and as a member of several
                   national committees and task forces.
Maureen is a member of the CPCU-Loman Education Foundation's Loman
Club Gold. She is currently serving on the ISO Commercial Lines Industry
                   Liaison Panel.
