           Introductory Thoughts

Genesis 3 reveals the root of sin
Sin is rooted in disbelief and disobedience

Genesis 4 reveals the fruit of sin
The fruit of sin is a falling away from God - Apostasy
      Introductory Thoughts

We are introduced to the first offspring
           of Adam and Eve
     Cain – Acquisition or Possession

Abel - Breath, Vapor or Vanity

           Were they twins?
          Their occupations
Cain – A tiller of the ground

Abel – A keeper of the sheep
               Offerings Presented

        The offerings were commanded by
                God at some point
If not commanded by God, then they would not have been
                      by faith

Confirms the sinfulness of adding to or
            taking away from God’s word

Cain – Fruit of the ground
Offered unto God, not an idol
The basis of his guilt was not idolatry
It was his best, just not what the Lord required
              Offerings Presented

        The offerings were commanded by
                God at some point
If not commanded by God, then they would not have been
                      by faith

Confirms the sinfulness of adding to or
            taking away from God’s word

Abel – Firstlings of his flock
                  Offered unto God
       Hebrews 11:4 – A more excellent sacrifice
Sins That Led to Murder

         Greed
       Jealousy
         Anger
       Revenge
     Evil Intentions
      Selfishness
               A Sibling Rivalry

Siblings are God’s gift to each other
Siblings are different from one another
Siblings learn to relate to God together
Sibling rivalries teach us how to relate to others
   Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

Failure to be your brothers keeper is:
           Offensive to God

      Rejecting your own humanity

       Disturbs the natural order
