CONFLICT OF INTEREST FORMS
Committee members were directed to fill out and turn in their conflict of interest forms to staff.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
 A motion was made to approve the minutes of May 17, 2012 as presented.

COMMITTEE MEMBER REPORTS
Daniel Fitzgerald reported Diane Cason, Timothy Kelley, and Francisco Marquez were all able to
attend Mexport in the month of May.

Kelli Graham reported a Resources and Awareness meeting was held earlier in the day. The
committee will potentially need a budget to expand the Business Resources Guide and to upload it
online. All the different teams formed from the Workforce Visioning Workshop will be meeting in
July.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REGARDING MAY YTD EXPENDITURES
A Business & Marketing Expenditures report as of May 31, 2012 was provided by staff and was
reviewed by the committee. There were a total of $2,304 Marketing expenditures for the month of
May 2012 leaving a balance of $29,528. Staff informed the committee of anticipated expenditures
including the production and airing of a television commercial, which will cost around $3,100.
DISCUSSION/ACTION REGARDING 2012-2013 MARKETING & BUSINESS SERVICES
BUDGET
A Business & Marketing Budget Proposal for FY 2012-2013 was provided by staff and was reviewed
by the committee. Staff will contact Spectrum Advertising to be invoiced for website updates
currently in the works. Leftover Marketing and Business Services funds will be requested to be carried
over to FY 2012-2013. No changes were made to the proposed budget.

Discussion took place regarding Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation invoicing the
Workforce Development Board for attending the Mexport event in May. Once a finalized budget is
approved, committee members will meet to discuss which tradeshows the Business & Marketing
Committee should attend to discuss costs.

 A motion was made to request approval from the Finance Committee to carry over left over
  funds from the Business Services and Marketing budgets.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REGARDING ENTRAVISION COMMUNICATIONS PRICE
QUOTATION FOR TV SPOTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,220 PER MONTH
Rates based on a six month contract at a cost of $2,220 per month from Univision were provided by
staff and were discussed by the committee. The committee decided on not approving advertising to be
run on Entravision due to the high cost.

 A motion was made to not approve an advertising campaign with Entravision.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REGARDING TIME WARNER CABLE ADVERTISING SCHEDULE
& ADDITIONAL FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,350 FOR 3 MONTHS (October-
December)

 A motion was made to approve the advertising contract with Time Warner at a cost of $2,350
  for October to December 2012 with the stipulation the commercial will be aired on Spanish
  stations.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REGARDING IMAGES FOR WEBSITE REDESIGN &
RECONSIDERATION OF PROJECT AUTHORIZATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,200
At last month’s meeting the committee took action to use pre-existing photos for the website.
However, no photos have been provided to staff. Discussion took place regarding authorizing a
professional photo shoot be done for the website in the amount of $1,200.

Discussion took place regarding the issue with the four logos being placed on the ivworkforce website
(ICWDB, ICWDO, American Job Center Network, and One Stop).

 A motion was made to approve the authorization of a professional photo shoot to be done for
  pictures on the website in the amount of $1,200.

The committee reviewed the proposed website redesign. Discussion took place regarding the issue
with the four logos being placed on the ivworkforce website (ICWDB, ICWDO, American Job Center

  Office logo from the website.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REGARDING BUSINESS SERVICES CONTRACT AND
ACTIVITIES
Priscilla Lopez, Susanna Fuentes, and Dr. Michael Sabath of SDSU, introduced themselves and
informed the committee of their goals and vision regarding the Business Services contract. July 1,
2012 is the official start date. However, SDSU has already begun working on the project.

REPORTS
  A. Website Analytics
  The ivworkforce.com website analytics report for the month of May was provided by staff. It was
  noted there were a total of 1,845 visits.

   B. IV Press Monthly Advertising Report
   A digital media monthly report (May 2012) from the Imperial Valley Press showing popular online
   advertisements was provided by staff. It was noted the online advertisement for the Free Job
   Seeker Workshop was number two of the top six online advertisements.
