Julio had been getting grades in the low 60s. He’d even
started to act more aggressively. But in just nine weeks, he
brought his grades up into the 80s and 90s and became
much calmer. A key reason why is because United Way of
Metropolitan Dallas investors — people just like you —
support parent-education classes like the one that helped
Julio’s mom, Irais, become more fully involved in his
academic success.

In the class, Irais learned to establish a regular routine that
helped Julio complete his homework. She discovered how to
use the school’s parent portal to make sure he turned in all his schoolwork. “Because Julio knows I’m
watching him and that he has my support, he’s significantly improved his grades and changed his
behavior,” Irais adds. “Thank you, United Way, for teaching me how to help my son be a better
student.”

One of the things I enjoy most about the United Way campaign is the chance to see how gifts by
[COMPANY NAME] employees combine to change someone’s life forever. It’s pretty easy to see when
you think about a baby girl like Heaven.

Heaven’s mom and dad, Ashley and Cory, had long dreamed
about having a baby. Unfortunately, Ashley’s pregnancy was
marred with health complications. High blood pressure.
Asthma attacks. A nearly 20-pound weight loss due to acid
reflux and morning sickness.

But United Way of Metropolitan Dallas donors invest in
preventive care for families in need, like the program that
helped Ashley and Cory. Not only did the program help them
make sure Heaven had a healthy birth, it also provides
guidance, resources and support until she turns 2 years old.

Meeting regularly with their case manager, they learned
about crib bumpers, the dangers of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and the pros and cons of
breastfeeding and formula. Cory says, “Thanks to United Way, we learned how to best care for our
baby.”

Thanks to United Way investors — people just like you — Heaven has the best possible chance at a
healthy future.
