WHAT DOES PROTEIN DO

COMPLETING THE PROTEIN PUZZLE

Tracing the history of the word, the meaning of proteins was “of prime importance”.

And they totally are.

But the big industries have been milking that definition for all it’s worth.

In the past ten years or so the food, fitness, and supplement industries have sort of
joined forces to create an almighty marketing Beast.

And this beast has generated a huge hype around protein, which is going from strength to strength.

In fact, the dietary supplement industry is absolutely booming, up 7% in the US for 2012. Many believe the
dietary supplement market will be the fastest growing market between 2012-2017. Investors should be sniffing
around this industry for sure.

So what’s out there?

We’re all likely aware of the plethora of different protein supplements on the market, such as shakes, bars,
cookies… and balls (yum!).

Then there’s all the popular weight loss books that involve high-protein intake (think Atkin’s, Paleo).

And now there’s many traditionally low-protein food products that have a spoonful of added protein- and they
make sure you know it.
I’m waiting for “diet coke with protein!” to hit the fridges. What a chemical mess that will be.

So you can see for the fitness industry, protein is BIG business ($$)

And whilst I’m here to empower you desk-jockeys to take back control of your health, I’m also here to help you
give that marketing Beast a swift ninja-kick to the balls.

That’s why you’ve gotta become a Protein Ninja!.

SO WHAT DOES PROTEIN EVEN DO?

Here’s Biology 101 class summed up in three dot points…

Proteins play an essential and dominant role in:

 Acting as the building blocks for muscle, blood, and skin (and also needed for replacement).
 Defending your body against disease and illness
 Keeping you satiated (feeling fuller for longer), so in turn you eat less calories overall which
              helps weight management.

If you understand what you put in your body, you can control what you get out of it. And protein is a KEY player
in that equation.
If you’d like to learn more about protein, including which types are best, and whether supplements actually
work, then check out my free 6-part protein e-course at 9to5ninja.com.
