1 Executive Summary

1.1   Introduction

       Harper Web Design greatly appreciates the opportunity to be invited to offer a proposal for Java Legend
       Cafe’s Web Site. If chosen to design your site we look forward to working with you and telling your story
       that of a successful coffee shop that is popular, cozy, and unique.

       By contacting us you recognize a web site can be a benefit to a business. Your first web site will give you
       the opportunity to communicate directly with your customers. By working with us in the design process
       you will have input every step of the way to make sure your brand is presented right.

       We read the Web Design and Development Questionnaire and got an understanding of what you are
       looking for in your web site. We would like to provide you with a well organized hip site that expresses a
       warm cozy feeling and fun atmosphere that has a good choice of fonts, colors, and background. We will
       incorporate pictures, an easy to read menu, a feedback form, a Google map for directions, an interactive
       calendar, and social media integration that includes twitter and YouTube video, and a way for customers to
       upload pictures. The end result will be a website that expresses your brand.

1.2   Overview of Solution

       To be successful the project requires both hardware/software components, and personnel that will be
       utilized in the design of your web site to get you the client up and running.

       Java Legend Cafe the client and your customers will access the internet through a software browser. Your
       web site will be stored on a server (hardware) and programmed. A host for the server will need to be
       determined by you and a domain chosen.

       Java Legend Cafe’s web site will be programmed mainly with HTML and CSS. The design will be created
       with the Adobe Master Suite of software and other programs as needed. A highly skilled team will be
       chosen to work on the project.

2 Harper Web Design Overview

2.1   Company Background

        Harper Web Design has been in business for over 10 years. We were founded in 2000 by a group of friends
        in Atlanta, GA. This is where our headquarters is located. We primarily focus on web design, but have
        capabilities in photo, graphic, and video production. We have both commercial and government clients. We
        have been very successful in the market space.

      We take pride in delivering professional quality products on time and within budget. We are committed to

3       Project Methodology
          To successful we will have a well thought out plan and strategy for designing your web site. This
          approach will consist of 5 phases which are the planning, design, production, evaluation, and
          maintenance phases.

3.1      Planning Phase

         In this phase of the process we will define all the requirements and conduct research. We will define the
         goals, deliverables, timeline and recourses. Include a link to your team portal site

3.2      Design Phase

        In this phase we will draft design options and select a design.

3.3      Production Phase

        In this phase we will produce the design. Put content into the site, code HTML and CSS Templates, develop
        back end scripts and databases. Update project plan and timeline from planning phase.

3.4       Evaluation Phase

          In this phase we will review content for accuracy and grammar. Resolve design issues with the designers
          discovered during testing. Resolve code and functionality issues. Conduct functionality and security
          testing.

3.5       Maintenance Phase

          We will plan on keeping content current and conducting a quality review of the site. It will be decided if
          Java Legend wants us to handle these services or do they have the internal resources, training and software
          to handle this internally.
4 Proposed Solution
    This section proposes the solution for the project….

    The solution recommended by Harper Web Design requires the combination of talents offered by 9 unique
    disciplines; User Project Management, Usability Analyst, Writer/Content Manager, Information Architect,
    User Experience (UX) Designer, Visual Designer, Developer (Back-End)/Programmer, Front-End
    Developer, and Quality Tester. It is this combination of skills, working together through Java Legend Cafe
    development methodology will yield a site that meets the current and long-term needs of Java Legend Cafe
    on a cost effective and timely basis.
5 System Support and Maintenance Processes
         Harper Web Design provides a complete set of ongoing system support and site maintenance services
         ensuring maximum uptime for our client applications. This involves an annual review of the usability of
         the site and content updates as needed.

5.2    Role –

       Molly Harper-Project Manager-The project manager serves as a point of contact for the client.
       Responsibilities include lead the team, help the team be successful, develop a project dentition, manage the
       task list and timeline, help the team keep on focus and facilitate communications. She has over 10 years of
       experience and worked on jobs for the USAF and IBM. She has bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an
       Associate’s degree in Audiovisual Production Services.

       John Doe-Usability Analyst-He creates a usability testing plan, conducts tests and prioritizes and
       communicates usability issues to the team. He has 10 years of experience and worked on jobs for BB&T and
       Georgia Pacific. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Web Design and Development from the Art Institute of
       Atlanta.

       David Wood-Writer/Content Manager-The writer content manager writes and adapts content for the Web.
       He has 6 years of experience and has worked for BB&T and Microsoft. He has a bachelor’s degree in
       English from the University of Georgia.
Tom Smith-Information Architect-He analyzes, organizes, and labels information on the web to be intuitive
and usable. He has 5 years of experience and worked on jobs for Apple and IBM. He has a Bachelors
degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. He has skills in graphic design and web site diagramming.

Tom Jones-User Experience (UX) Designer-Creates architecture and interaction models that affect user
experience of a device or system. The scope of the field is directed at affecting all aspects of the user’s
interaction with the product. He has 15 years of experience and has worked for Microsoft, Apple, and IBM.
He has a Masters degree in computer programming from MIT.

Sally Jones-Visual Designer-Develops design options based on the principles and elements; and user
centered design. She has 12 years of experience and worked on projects for USAF and IBM. She has a
Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media from Yale University. She is skilled in programs that include: Adobe
Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver.

Joe Black-Developer (Back-End)/Programmer-He develops and builds the front-end (HTML, CSS,
JavaScript and the back-end (server-side scripting, database) of the website. He has 4 years of experience
and has worked for CNN and Apple. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

Sarah White-Front-End Developer-Builds the front-end (HTML, CSS, Java Script) and the back –end
(Server side scripting, database) of the web site. She has 9 years of experience and has worked on projects
for Coca Cola and IBM. She has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from MIT. She is skilled in
HTML and Java Script.

Tim Wood-Quality Tester-Creates a realistic testing plan, prioritizes findings and communicates them
to rest of the team. He has 5 years of experience and has worked on project for Apple. He has a Masters
Degree in Web Design from the San Francisco College of Art and Design.
