					                               Connecticut’s Cultural Treasures

Connecticut is bursting with cultural resources of national significance, unique places and wonderful
stories to tell.

Selectted with three things in mind: 1) Quality and excellence of the attraction 2) Geographic diversity
3) Diversity of form and content 4) Visitor readiness and accessibility, 5) Strengthens Connecticut’s
sense of place. The point is to get people looking at Connecticut more closely, in ways that go beyond
the obvious star attractions. In addition to art museums and historical museums, this list includes
remarkable historic districts, nationally-significant landmarks, historic parks and cemeteries, our “last
great place” Connecticut River - destinations that add to our sense of place and provide a compelling
visitor experience.

The common denominator for each site and/or institution profiled is that it is a visitable attraction of
extraordinary quality. The result will be an expanding collection of culture-based stories that enliven
our appreciation of our cultural environment and help us understand what we have to show and tell
and why it matters.
