How to Write a Successful Grant Proposal
Focus on Programs and Services Related to Aging
Would you like to receive more funding for your programs and services targeting older adults? Despite the current economic situation, grant money for nonprofit organizations is available, but obtaining funding is becoming more competitive. Please join us in this interactive 4-hour grant writing workshop. Whether you are new to the field of grant writing, or if you want to improve your success rate, this workshop is designed to provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of grant writing. Participants will learn how to: • • • • Write an effective letter of inquiry; Effectively respond to the key components of a grant proposal; Avoid common mistakes when writing a grant proposal; and Locate funding sources.
The workshop includes examples, exercises, and handouts to help you achieve your goal. The program will be presented by Rita Strombeck, Ph.D. Rita received her doctorate from the University of Chicago and started her own company, HealthCare Education Associates, in 1982. Over the years, she has developed more than 50 education programs on a variety of health-related topics for health care professionals and the general public. These programs have been used in more than 4,000 hospitals, managed care organizations, nursing homes, senior centers, drug treatment facilities, and public health organizations throughout the United States and abroad. Rita has also received 12 grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has served on numerous government grant review panels. Currently, she is collaborating with Desert Samaritans for the Elderly on an education program dealing with substance misuse and abuse in older adults.
