Noun compounds Noun compounds consist of chains of two or more nouns, together with any necessary adjectives. As we have already seen, these noun groups are very frequent in English and particularly in technical English. In order to understand or construct noun compounds, you should pay special attention to the word order. The last term in the sequence is usually the key word and the previous terms qualify it, providing more specific information.
