(SAMPLE) Motomco’s Rodent Control System Implemented for _________________________________ (Individual) ________________________ (Producer) House 1 House 2 House 3 House 4 House 5 House 6 Rat Bait Program Bait Station Layout Houses 1 and 6 will need ________ (12) stations each on the exterior of the house. Houses 2 through 5 will need ______ (10) stations each on the exterior of the house. PROCEDURES FOR BREEDING, GESTATION, AND FARROWING: 1) FARM MANAGEMENT. All vegetation, around the perimeter, should be eliminated by spraying an approved herbicide. There should be a non-vegetative two-foot radius surrounding the house. Keep all lumber piles, old equipment, trash piles, old nests, old slats, tall weeds, etc. removed from around the poultry house. For curtains that are down and rolled, roll them up weekly to prevent rodent nesting and destruction of curtains. 2) APPROVED RODENTICIDES. Only approved rodenticides should be used. ________________________(Your operation) is on a year-round rotation with Jaguar, Hawk and Rampage rodenticides. This will help prevent resistance of any one particular rodenticide. Bait Chunx are the preferred forms of rodenticides, as they satisfy a rodent’s primal instinct to gnaw. Place pacs may be used and it is unnecessary to tear them open as these packs breathe. You may tear open the packs when baiting burrows. 3) BAIT STATIONS. 10 to 12 tamper-resistant bait stations should be placed in equal increments around the perimeter of the house. They should be placed against the sidewall so the back of the station is touching the wall. Six should be placed down each side and one on each end of the house. Stake or anchor the station to the ground to prevent non-target animals from removing the station. Place up to eight chunks of approved rodenticide in each bait station, depending on the severity of the infestation. Do not place clean-out type rodenticides in these bait stations. 4) BURROW BAITING. All burrows should be monitored and baited as necessary. Loose pellets are the bait forms of choice. Do not wedge bait chunks or place packs into burrows. Every Monday, fill burrows with dirt and return on Tuesday to check to see if any burrows are reopened. A reopened burrow means rodents still exist. If so, bait with loose pellets. Return on Friday and rebait all open burrows. On Monday repeat the above steps until all burrows are closed. 5) INTERIOR BAITING. Starting in the corners, nail or place a Chunx every 10 ft. on the inside walls. Any holes in the ceiling should be baited by nailing the Chunx near the hole or inside it. If there signs of activity in the attic areas, it should be baited by throwing the bait throughout the active areas. 6) RECORD KEEPING. Number each station and inspect them weekly until you have activity under control. Once they are under control, inspect stations on a bi-weekly basis. This activity should be recorded on the proper form provided by the farm manager. The goal is to identify critical control points and target these areas.
