Spirit Fridays to Increase School Spirit Ways it works in our school: Every Friday there is a drwing held at our school for a prize(we chose movie tickets). the persons name who is called wins if two tickets if he or she is wearing spirit wear(shirt, colors, etc..) the people drawn consists of one student and one staff member. the winners name is announced via intercom and the teacher telephones the main office to tell them if there is a winner, the staff member calls to verify also. if there is no winner, we draw one more name, if again we come up with no winner we double the prize to 4 tickets and wait till next week. your prize doesnt have to be movie tickets, anything that a staaf member or student would enjoy would work. Pitfalls: the only thing that is neede to watch out for is that everyone hears the announcement, because our intercom can tend to be quite or there is excessive chatter in some classes. (School Phone: 488-1100 (ask for Mrs. Lugar) Senior Dinner The Senior Dinner is a dinner for the senior class held at a nearby restaurant. We picked Big Daddy's Greek Cuisine because it has a separate room for parties that would accomodate the amount of people involved. We hire a DJ so that people can dance and we also have buffet-style food. The cost to enter is 15 dollars per person, just enough to cover all the costs of the event, since profit is not the intent of the event. When: Any time during the school year, preferably at the beginning of the second semester so that the event does not conflict/compete with any end-of-the-year senior activities. We picked March 12, which is a school night. School nights are best for the activity because they do not conflict with weekend activities. We will hold the event from 7pm to 11 pm. • • Why: To encourage class camaraderie and enthusiasm; class bonding. How: Call the restaurant 3 months in advance to reserve a date. o Hire a DJ for the night 2 months in advance. o Visit the restaurant to speak with the manager and discuss your plans: where the DJ will go, what the food will be, etc. o Start adverstising for the event! Evaluation: Last year the Senior class ended up with 80

people attending the event, about 1/3 of their class. Since the event received rave reviews last year, we hope to have half of our class attend. Weird Hair and Sock Day Dye or spray your hair and fill it with hair spray, and anything else. Wigs are great too. Pull up your pant legs and show off some crazy or mismatched socks. Halloween Costume Wear a halloween costume new, old or mismatched. Hippy Pull something out of your parents closets and dress like like your from the 60’s and 70’s complete with tiedye shirts, braided hair, sandals and whatever else you can think of. Multi-Color Try to wear as many different colors as possible. Shirt must have at least two different colors and pants should have at least two. Mismatch socks and dye hair. Earings and jewelry count two. (and maybe give a prize for the person with the most) Beach Dress like you’re on your way to the beach in shorts, sun dresses, summer design shirts, and sandals. Cross Dress Easy enough, girls dress like guys and guys dress like girls. Hat Wear your favorite baseball cap, or better yet, find something different, sailor’s hats, berets, cowboy hats, or sombreros! PJ Wear your favorite PJ’s with slippers and stuffed animals. Or Get Up and Go, come to school in whatever, and how ever you got out of bed. (If you didn’t take a shower while you were sleeping, don’t before you leave) Decades Each grade can be assigned a different decade or everyone can wear a certain decades from the 40’s-80’s Hawaiian Wear a Hawaiian shirt and even go all out with grass skirts, liays, and carry around a pineapple or two. Kiwi anyone? Twin Find a partner and dress as alike as possible.
Old Dress Up Wear your old Homecoming or Prom Dresses or suits and jackets. Mismatch Dress Up Mismatch dressy clothes like skirts, dresses, blouses, shirts, suits, coats, pants, ties, shoes and any accessories. Once again, parents closets are a good place to check. Cowboy Go Southwest with vests, boots, hats and more. Outdoorsman/ Hunter Orange/ Cameoflage You’re heading outdoors, so wear your plaid shirts, fishing vests, cameo pants, boots, carharts, bright orange coats or reflective gear Snowman It’s wintertime and you’re going outside to build a snowman, wear your snowmobiling suits, carharts, winter gloves, hats and boots. Farmer Grab your overalls and straw hat and head out Sports Wear clothes representing your favorite sports teams. College Wear clothes representing your favorite college teams. Professional Sports Wear clothes representing your favorite pro teams. Neon Go bright and wear anything neon! Black and Khaki Pants Wear any kind of pants or skirts, just as long as they aren’t jeans. Color Day Pick a color or a different color for each grade go all out from head to toe. International Day: Bring Your Own Banana The theme for this year's Fall Fest at my school was International Celebrations. (ie. Chinese New Year, Greece Olympics, Germany's Oktober Fest, etc.) In celebration of the Carribean Reggae Fest we spread the word to the student body to bring their own bananas. With the help of donated ice cream we made everyone who brought a banana their own banana split topped with chocolate sauce and sprinkles. It was a great success!
