 denver federal center expands solar projects with arra funds

                                                                                                            C   enterre / E Light Wind and Solar, Inc.,
                                                                                                                A Joint Venture Company, has been
                                                                                                            awarded a $17,302,985 design-build
                                                                      A JOINT VENTURE                       contract for the installation of solar panels
                                                                                                            at the Denver Federal Center (DFC).

                                                                                                            The DFC is committed to becoming the
                                                                                                            most sustainable campus in the United
                                                                                                            States by the year 2020. This project will
                                                                                                            include the design and installation of a
                                                                                                            3.2 megawatt photovoltaic (PV) system.
                                                                                                            Over 14,612 rooftop solar panels will
                                                                                                            be installed on Buildings 20, 56 and 810
                                                                                                            and will be tied to the existing electrical
                                                                                                            distribution system.

                                                                                                            The 3.2 megawatts of solar energy from
                                                                                                            this system is equivalent to removing
                                                                                                            567 cars from the roadways each year;
                                                                                                            powering 385 homes for one year and
                                                                                                            removing 15.5 railcars’ worth of coal.

                                                                                                            The General Services Administration
                                                                                                            awarded the project in December 2009
                                                                                                            and construction will begin on the
                                                                                                            site this April. “The ARRA is driving the
                                                                                                            construction industry toward green
                                                                                                            projects and technologies and we are
                                                                                                            proud to be a part of this new future,” said
                                                                                                            Perry Herrmann, President/CEO of E Light

      milestone was celebrated in a

 for Humanity (PPHFH) celebrated the
