About the North Jersey Whiz Skiers We are a club of a hundred or so skiers that share our club-owned lodge at the foot of the Mad River Glen Ski area. We are all ages, singles, couples and families. We come from all walks of life, but we have one thing in common ... a love for skiing Mad River Glen ! The club offers an economical way to enjoy the convenience and beauty of on-mountain lodging and provides a comfortable, relaxed place to spend evenings with friends and family. It is convenient enough to the slopes to take a mid-day break for snacks or to change a wet pair of gloves. On a typical winter weekend, members park their car at the lodge Friday evening and have no need to touch it until it is time to go home Sunday Evening. Breakfasts and Saturday night dinner are served by our cook. Evenings are spent chatting by the fire , playing parlor games or reading. We pride ourselves on NOT having a television. Snowboarders or skiers looking for a change of pace can drive to Sugarbush within ten minutes. Off season, our club gets together for hiking, clambakes and planning the upcoming ski season. The Lodge

The Mountain Mad River Glen is a unique, cooperatively owned ski area. The skiers that own Mad River Glen enjoy keeping it much like it was when it was first opened in 1948. Avoiding expansion, high speed lifts, and snowboarders* keeps the slopes uncrowded and preserves the same pristine mountain environment that Mad River skiers have enjoyed for over sixty years.
The lodge is a five minute walk to the Mad River lifts. Coming back home, you can ski right to the front door from Lower Antelope. Those who wish to slide on Sugarbush can drive there in less than ten minutes. Our beautiful rustic fireplace room as well as a large living room, both with lots of seating, provide a variety of areas to socialize.
We have a total of 38 bunks in 8 modest bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Some sleep 6, some 4, one 2. Our lodge was built by our members in the early years of Mad River Glen. A few of those members are still active in the club as are many of their children and grandchildren. Members may stay at the lodge anytime at very reasonable rates. On busy winter weekends, we have a chef that cooks delicious breakfasts to order Saturday & Sunday morning, and serves dinner family style on Saturday night.

The lodge is available off-season to be your base for many other New England activities. Hiking · Leaf Peeping · Biking Fishing · Golf · Tubing or just enjoy the peace and solitude of the mountains.
Most skiers know that Mad River has some of the most challenging trails in the country. But beginners shouldn't be scared away. More than half of Mad River Glen's 45 trails are novice and intermediate. There is a great ski school, and the Birdland area offers beginners an unintimidating way to experience all the beauty that is Mad River Glen. There are also several snowshoe trails with guided treks are available. North Jersey Whiz Skiers is proud to own a share of the Mad River Glen Coop!
