JOURNAL CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE
October 19, 2009
The Reverend Dr. A. Qismat Alim, Pastor of Payne Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church, led the Council in Prayer. The President and members of the Council recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
The City Council of Baltimore met pursuant to adjournment. Present: Stephanie RawlingsBlake, President, and Councilmembers Kraft, D'Adamo, Henry, Spector, Middleton, Conaway, Holton, Welch, Reisinger, Cole, Young, Branch, Clarke Absent - Councilmember Curran
Councilmember Holton, duly seconded, made a motion to journalize the invocation. It was so ordered. Father and Creator of All, We come to say thank you for the gift of life today. It is true that it is you who have made us and not we ourselves. Therefore, we must learn that it is our responsibility to seek You regarding all our endeavors. You indicated in your word that “The plans you have for us are plans for good and not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope.” Father, I ask you tonight that as these men and women assemble to discuss the business at hand and to make decision on behalf of the people …that there will not be any personal motives or selfishness on their part. I pray that you will give them your guidance and direction to serve this city and the people who elected them with a spirit of righteousness and truth. I pray that you will open up closed minds and bring order to minds that are cluttered. May their time together be without malice or division but a spirit of comradeship and teamwork.

Journal of the City Council Thank you …for your word tells us that it is you who place people in high places…not to take your place but to serve you as you order our steps. May we all keep this in mind as we give due diligence to our assignments. In Your Name we pray. Amen.
