Water, Sanitary Sewer & Storm Drain Progress
The water and sewer main installation has been completed for the entire length of the project (Church Street to Charles Street), and permanent water and sewer service connections have been installed at every dwelling north of Murph Avenue. There are approximately five remaining water and sewer connections that must be installed in the 200 and 300 blocks. Contractor, Brake Company, expects to have this work completed by the end of October. New storm drainage pipes and inlets have been installed from Murph Avenue up to Charles Street. Work will continue in the 200 and 300 blocks and it is expected that all storm drainage pipes will be complete by mid-November.

Electrical conduits for street lights and traffic signal interconnects have been installed from Murph Avenue to Charles Street. This work will continue in the 200 and 300 blocks as the storm drainage system is completed.

Beginning the week of October 19 , new concrete curbs will be installed on both sides of the street, including the Medal of Honor Triangle. ♦ After the curbs are in place, Brake Company will install the base blacktop. Installation of new concrete sidewalks will begin in the 300 and 400 blocks. This work will involve the repair or replacement of some existing stairs and stoops along the street. ♦ The curb, base pavement, and sidewalk work will then continue in the 200 and 300 blocks as the storm drainage system is completed.

At certain properties: we will be repairing, modifying, or replacing existing steps and stoops to better work with the new curb and sidewalk construction. The contractor will be in contact, in advance, if your property is one that will be affected by this work. They will try to allow for access to the property as much as possible. Please understand that when new concrete sidewalk and/or steps are installed there will be a period of time, while the concrete sets and cures, that access to the front of the home will not be possible. As work continues, block to block, there will continue to be temporary road detours and closures. ♦ Expect a temporary closure at the intersection of Bethel Street and North Avenue for the installation of curbs, sidewalks and other features

Although the final paving is not expected to be complete until Spring, Jonathan Street will be reopen to thru traffic by the end of this year.
