“A five-year community and economic development initiative
by the Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation”
The next five years will be an important period in the future of Sandusky County. We have
the unique opportunity to decide the direction of our county, to seize the moments which lie
before us and grow our economy. We believe that Sandusky County, Ohio is in the right place at
the right time to experience a surge in economic growth.
The past twenty-five years has seen a positive, steady growth
for Sandusky County due in part by the leadership of the
Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation
(SCEDC). The work of the SCEDC to diversify the
economy has protected Sandusky County from the wide
economic swings our neighbors have been subjected to.
“I look forward to working with the public and private
business sectors to develop a stronger future for
Sandusky County.”
Kay E. Reiter
Executive Director
SCEDC
“Investing in “Partnering for the Future” is a smart way
to insure the future of our economy and to improve our
quality of life as we adjust to changes in our core industries
and work to become the leading county in Ohio and the
Midwest.”
Jeff Woitha
President, SCEDC
Carbo Forge, Inc.

“Partnering for the Future” campaign is a five-year $1.3 Million plan designed to improve
Sandusky County by building our competencies and expertise to attract people and
investments to our communities. The plan’s five-year action steps will begin January, 2010 and
will wrap-up on December 31, 2014.
What are the expected results of “Partnering
for the Future”? A vibrant economy, a strong
community, and a diversified workforce. We
want to establish Sandusky County as the
best location among all urban centers in Ohio
and the Midwest. Sandusky County has
the potential to become a thriving county of
economic growth and prosperity for the
benefit of the entire population. We can
obtain more world-class amenities and
businesses that will enrich local lives and
make it a more vibrant and rewarding
place to live, work, and raise a family.
What will make the difference for Sandusky
County? The support to “Partnering
for the Future” from Sandusky County
citizens and businesses. This economic
development campaign, spearheaded by
the SCEDC, will help our county achieve
its full potential for the benefit of all. But
significant change will take seed money and
the SCEDC is currently under-capitalized.
That is why your support is needed today.

“If a community is to be strong, grow and expand its opportunities,
partnerships need to be forged between business, educators,
government and community residents working together toward
a common goal.”

“Recruiting new businesses and retaining existing businesses takes time
and money. It requires reliance not only on the cooperation of government
entities but also, and especially, on the determination and support of
responsible and caring members of the business community.”
SCEDC was founded in 1984 by a group of community business leaders that felt it was important to
support existing businesses as well as recruiting new businesses to Sandusky County. SCEDC has
always operated on a limited budget but has returned great rewards to the business community and
the citizens of Sandusky County. Since its conception, SCEDC has participated in a capital campaign
every five years to renew support and fund the organization. The results of the 2004 campaign
include:
• 1,386 New Jobs Created
• Over 3,250 Jobs Retained
• $156M in New Capital Investments
• 190 Existing Business Retention Calls
The next five years will be even more productive with adequate
funding. A new potential exists with the development of new
industrial parks strategically placed throughout the county. A
new Supplier Recruitment Program will target industries that
complement our existing business community. An emphasis
on Green Technologies and emerging industries will have a great potential to grow
Sandusky County’s existing business base. More citizens of the county will be able
to work locally rather than out commute to jobs in other counties.
