For the young narrator of Postales de Leningrado being born into a socialist uprising in 1960s Venezuela wasn’t easy. She and her cousin Teo have learned how to live a clandestine life, making an ongoing game out of survival, with everything from code names and creative disguises to making themselves invisible. A visual collage with animation and nostalgic footage of revolutionary youth, the film injects both humor and pathos into a story where wild imaginations, foggy memories, and grief mix in a child’s reality.

The title refers to a fictionalized posh district in Mexico City, an arcadia of beautiful homes, resplendent lawns and kids in smart school uniforms, fenced off from the slums with razor wire, surrounded by security guards and CCTV. The residents of this enclosed neighborhood are shocked by a violent crime, and for one resident in particular, young Alejandro, the drama is ratcheted up when he encounters the lone kid who escaped the event and is hiding out within the neighborhood's borders.

Al Otro Lado follows the stories about three children from Mexico, Cuba, and Morocco whose fathers have emigrated in the hopes of finding greater prosperity somewhere else. Each of the three children reacts powerfully to the absence of his or her father, and each takes drastic action to try and bring him back. The film addresses the resiliency as well as the ingenuity of children, but it also suggests that these qualities cannot protect them from all harm.

Inspired on real events, Camino is the emotional adventure of an extraordinary eleven-year-old who is faced simultaneously with two completely new situations in her life: falling in love and dying. Above all else, Camino is a radiant light that shines through every gloomy obstacle in her path, denying every attempt to shroud in darkness her desire to live, to love and to feel the full depth of her happiness.
