You need all the preservatives you can get. 3) When you fall down, decide what else you can do while you’re down there. 4) You’re getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster. 5) It’s frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions. 6) Time may be a great healer, but it’s a lousy beautician. 7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone. CUTE SAYING - JUST FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS The four stages of life: 1) You believe in Santa Claus 2) You don’t believe in Santa Claus 3) You are Santa Claus 4) You look like Santa Claus CENTER NEWS MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL: A renewed membership is always required to take part in Almage activities and/or programs. The membership for the year is $20.00, and if you would like to receive the newsletter at home, it is an additional $5.00 to cover the postage expense. CENTER HOURS/CENTER CLOSED: The activities and programs will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Now that the colder days will be arriving, we ask that the members and volunteers, do not get to the center at 8:30am, but a little later, so that we have the time to open, bring in items that we had to pick up, and get our day going. Also, please note that Fridays, the center closes at 1:00pm. Please call the center to see if anyone is there before coming down on Friday afternoons. Anybody using the adapted transport, please make sure that you confirm your pick-up time for 3:30pm. Thank-you. **The center will be closed on Monday, October 13, for Thanksgiving. For the Christmas holidays, the center will be closed from Monday, December 22nd to Friday, January 2nd. The center will re-open on Monday, January 5th. PROGRAMS CANCELLED: Reminder that all programs at the center will be cancelled on Friday, October 17, due to the fact that we are getting ready for our BAZAAR, which will be on Saturday, October 18. CHANGE OF TIME: Don’t forget that the time falls back 1 hour on November 2nd, at 2:00am. **This is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors – an ounce of prevention goes a long way* CALL BEFORE COMING DOWN: Due to change of the weather (rainstorm, snow, ice) that we might have in the next couple of months, it would be advisable to call in before coming down to the center. Programs might change or may be cancelled due to bad weather or lack of volunteers. WINTER STORM ADVISORY: In the event of a winter storm, members and volunteers are encouraged to listen to CJAD800AM or 940 NEWS. Announcements about the center’s closing will be aired very early in the morning. MINIBUS: The door-to-door minibus service is available every Tuesday--$5.00 (return); $2.50 (one-way). B O A R D OF D I R E C T O R S CENTRAIDE CAMPAIGN 2008: Centraide is CCS’ major funder, and once again this year, the center will try its best to “give back” during the month long campaign. The kick-off to this year’s campaign “March of 1000 Umbrellas” will take place on Wednesday, October 8. All coffee and tea sales in October will go towards the campaign. ARTS & CRAFT GROUP: (New) New program, where we can work on different art works (sketching, any type of painting, different projects that you can discuss as a group and with your animator – Don Brunet) There is no charge to the course. You are responsible for your own supplies. Classes only began Thursday, September 25, at 10:00am. You can still join on Thursdays. BRA CLINIC: (For our women friends only) In September we had an amazing turnout for the Bra Clinic, and many ladies were not able to be fitted, due to the larger than expected attendance. But – to our friends, do not worry – they will be back on Tuesday, November 25 from 9:00 to 3:00 for another clinic. This time we will be setting up appointments, so that we won’t have such a long waiting period. Please call in, and ask Rosanna (or Dorothy Letang) for an appointment. For our next clinic we will ask the ladies to bring in more support panties, girdles, and bras of course. Remember that 85% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. The bra clinic can help women with health problems, posture correction problems, women who have mastectomy issues as well as women involved in sports. Every woman needs a bra that supports them and gives them direction and lift, and to get the maximum benefit from a bra it must be properly fitted. If you loved your first purchase, come and buy another one. It can make a great Christmas gift for yourself.
