Help keep the shelves stocked with disposable baby diapers at St. Mary Family Center. Consider taking up a collection of diapers for the center, which serves more than 100 people each day. Diapers in sizes 4,5,6 are needed as well as baby wipes, infant formula and baby food. A special pack-n-play unit and sign are available for use from the Catholic Charities Volunteer Coordinator for the collection.
Bus Tokens
St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter, 1535 11th St., Des Moines
Transportation, especially during the cold winter months, is a challenge for many of our guests. Bus tokens are a much appreciated item to help families staying at the shelter. Bus tokens can be purchased at Dahl’s, Hy-Vee and Younkers at $12 for 10 tokens. http://www.dmmta.com/allfares_pass
Calling Cards
St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter, 1535 11th St., Des Moines
Many families staying at the shelter may have out-of-town relatives or they may need to take care of business that requires long distance phone calls. The shelter accepts donations of calling cards to be kept and used by guests while they stay at the shelter.
