The Wolfson Campus Library is located on the second floor of building 1000. It houses a collection of over 44,000 items. The mission of the Library is: to provide access to an adequate collection of resources, in whichever medium is more appropriate, to support the learning and informational needs of the Campus’s students, faculty, administrators and staff.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Materials that are not available in the Wolfson Campus Library may be obtained through Interlibrary Loan. You may request these materials on the Campus Library Web page. If there is a charge from the lending library, it is the library user’s responsibility to pay that cost. Patrons are notified when the item is received, and it can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. As it takes time for ILL materials to arrive, patrons do need to plan ahead if they need interlibrary loan materials.

Circulation and Library Cards
Library users must present a valid MDC ID card to check out materials. This card serves as your library card. You may obtain a MDC Card at the Student Life Office. Full time faculty hired before the first day of classes will be in the library’s patron database; adjunct faculty must bring to the library a letter signed by the department chair, and the MDC photo ID every semester to have their record entered or updated at the Library Circulation Desk manually. The 16 digit ISO number printed on your card is your library number and the number that you will use to access databases. Your PIN is the last four digits of that number. Library Web Page
The Library Web Page is a portal to library and electronic resources. The URL is: rces/library . Through the Web page, library users can access this library’s catalog; the library catalogs of the state community college system; view e-books; search journal indexes; and learn about library services and policies. To use many on-line subscription databases in LINCCWEB and to view My Account you need to use a PIN along with your 16 digit MDC ID. Your Pin is the last four digits of your MDC Card number.

Wolfson Campus Library
Wolfson Campus Library is part of Florida’s online “Ask a Librarian” service. This web-based, virtual reference service is available at or by clicking the Ask a Librarian logo on the Library Web page. The hours are 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Library users can chat online with a librarian for one-on-one assistance in locating and using electronic library services. Whenever chat is unavailable, questions can be submitted via e-mail and are usually answered within 24 hours. Faculty and administrators may borrow a laptop for a limited period of time while conducting MDC business, assisting a conference, making a presentation, etc. Faculty need to secure approval from the campus CIO, Dr. Robert Calabrese.

Collection Development
The Wolfson Campus Library encourages MDC faculty to participate in developing a robust and viable collection. Faculty input is important in order to properly improve the library’s collection. The Library will accept your requests via email, or by any other written form. Make sure that the following items are included: author, title, publisher, date and if possible ISBN number. While requests for new materials may be submitted year-round, the bulk of the selection takes place during the fall semester and is completed by February.

Research Computers
Computers to access email or to do research are located on the first floor of the Library. Patrons must observe Library and MDC policies; and local, state, and federal laws regarding computer usage. Information found can be printed for $0.10 per page, saved to patron’s diskette, or sent via email.

Make-up Tests
Instructors may leave make-up tests for your students in the library. The staff will administer the instrument, but they are unable to proctor the test closely .

Laptop Computers
Wireless laptop computers are available to MDC students, faculty, staff, and administrators for a limited checkout ti- from the Service Window. Patrons must have a current MDC card and sign a usage agreement policy. Laptops can be used throughout the Library; however, they may not be taken out of the Library. All personal data must be saved to the patron’s diskette prior to returning the laptop. A borrowed laptop must be returned to the Service Window 15 minutes prior to closing.

Library Instruction
Reference librarians are available to provide library instruction. Instruction sessions may be general or subjectspecific, may focus on traditional, of electronic library resources, or may geared to the Internet, or general database-searching techniques, or any combination of the above. By discussing in advance the goals, objectives, and expec-tations you will enable the librarians to tailor the instruction to meet your class needs. In these sessions, the librarians strive to include information literacy strategies in their presentation. To enhance learning,

instructors are expected to remain with their class and participate in the instruction as applicable.

This is a non-circulating collection located on the first floor of the Library.

Instructors may place materials on Reserve for their classes. These materials will be available for room use only and may be checked out at the Service Window. A valid MDC Card is required to check out Reserve materials.

Other collections
Leisure, and Popular Video Collections are located on the first floor of the Library near the Circulation and Reference Area. Oversize books are shelved on the second floor of the library.

Rest Rooms
Rest rooms are located on both floor of the Library. The Women’s restroom is located near the Circulation Desk, and the Men’s `is on the second floor near the display cabinet.

NOTE: Exceptions and holiday hours will be posted in the Library. All hours are subject to change. Library Hours: Monday-Thursday Friday Saturday 7:30a.m.-9:00 p.m. 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
