Vision
– To provide service excellence through a “one stop shop” using leading edge spatial technology, best practices and processes to integrate all GPG Department GIS systems on a centrally shared platform (SIMS).



Slogan

– One Province, One GIS

GIS Objectives  The objective of this project is to consolidate all current GIS applications in the province and provide one centrally accessible robust technology solution. The proposed GIS solution will serve as the key spatial data business intelligence gathering tool for the GPG and would need to support project and other decision making in departments.  Key Outcomes: – Elimination of duplication; – One stop real time platform for spatial information; and – Spatial database that allows the storing, referencing and compilation of knowledge capital; – Increased automation.

• One stop shop for data access and retrieval

• Identification of risks and mitigating factors for potential projects • Monitor progress of infrastructure projects and maintenance • Provide feasibility for infrastructure projects • Provide data for locations, environmental impacts, alternate routes, shortest routes and geocoding • Reduction of excessive spend on poor planning
