					LF Field Set up Procedures
Overview
These procedures provide step-by-step directions to install the LF field system software. These installation procedures assume the following equipment:    (laptop) PC computer with Windows XP SP2 o PC includes Bluetooth capability (PDA) Dell Axim X51 (barcode scanner) Socket CHS 7

Additional assumptions include: MS Office already installed on laptop. These procedures address the installation of the LF software system on the laptop and the PDA. The LF software system includes various utilities, the custom LF applications and databases, and the configuration of the barcode scanner. The CD that accompanies this procedures document contains all of the required installation packages. To locate the appropriate installation package, open the accompanying CD with a Windows Explorer. One way to open the CD is to point the mouse cursor at „My Computer‟, right-click and select „OPEN‟. This will open an explorer. You then navigate to the appropriate CD drive. Finally, within the CD, you navigate to the appropriate folder (as directed below) for the desired installation package.

Procedures for Laptop
There are six tasks to install and configure the laptop. The steps should be executed in the order presented, as there are dependencies among the various components. Each task requires several steps. In general, each task requires you to 1) locate the appropriate installation package, 2) execute the package, 3) accept the defaults values when asked (there are a couple steps that allow customization, those steps will be duly noted), and 4) confirm successful completion of the step.
