					Putting Your Child in Daycare
Some parents see daycare as a saving grace that allows
them to provide for their children while simultaneously
providing for the nurturing welfare of their children.
Other parents see daycare centers in Stony Brook as a cop
out to parenting or simply not an option because they
feel that raising their child by themselves at home is the
                                                most important roles of parents.

The opposing view on Stony Brook daycare centers and
their function likewise reflect the reality that daycare
centers offer both pros and cons to the parents with the
choice of employing them. Daycare centers can be useful
in many ways, but they also have their distinct drawbacks
                                                that cannot be ignored.

So how does one choose? How do you as a responsible
parent decide what is best both for the young child and
for the family when it comes to the decision of whether
or not to enroll your child into a daycare center?

                                                Why Darecare?
First you as the parent must know both the advantages
and the disadvantages of putting a child into daycare. Also, if daycare centers have never seemed like a
good idea to you, consider opening your mind to the possibility as a way to benefit the child.

Many advantages to enrolling the child into a daycare center exist. One of the first and greatest
advantages of having a child spend even a day or two a week at a daycare center is that the child will be
able to interact socially with other children and learn primitive but vital social skills at a young age.

One of the biggest issues that children face as they being their formal education is separation anxiety
and a fear of social situations. By enrolling the child into a
daycare center at a young age, the parent will allow their child
to develop skills and adjust to social circumstances while
simultaneously decreasing the fear of separation that most
children face on the first day of preschool or first grade.

For these reasons alone, even a stay at home parent may wish
to enroll their child in a daycare center a few times a week so
as to allow their child to develop important social skills and to
grow accustom to interacting with others beyond their
parents. While these positive outcomes of enrolling a child in daycare are often overlooked, they are
perhaps the greatest advantage afforded by daycares to both parents and children.

Disadvantages
Still, however, there are disadvantages and drawn backs to putting a child in a Stony Brook daycare. The
principle disadvantage is that you, the parent, miss out on valuable and cherished bonding time with
your own child.

Numerous studies on the topic have shown that a growing toddler needs great amounts of
demonstrated love and attention to boost their development. While daycare centers strive to give each
child the attention they require to develop, the lop sided ratio of teachers to children may not always
allow for such attention to be given to each child in the proper amount.

When considering whether or not to place your child in a daycare center, the best advice is to do your
own research on the pros and cons of daycare centers, shop around for those daycare centers that meet
your needs, and consider the impact that the decision, whether good or bad, may have on the child.
