Haywards Heath, Mid Sussex: Out to Tender April 2010
1980’s 8 Storey Office Block - Refurbishment and maintenance project for compliance with Disability Discrimination Act, upgrading of Common
areas and Lifts, Dilapidation works and upgrading of building services and thermal Insulation. The building is half tenanted and is in use 7
days/week. The works include – re- roofing over occupied floors, upgrading toilets in daily use, re-design of the reception area, upgrading and
refurbishment of the lift replacement of controls and interiors, maintenance to three fire escape staircases. Replacement of defective double
glazed units in occupied and un-occupied floors, Replacement of Boilers, Plant Control and Energy saving devices for heating, cooling, lighting

The Penthouse, St Pancras Chambers: Completed November 2009
St Pancras Station former Midland Hotel, Grade 1 Listed Building: Conversion of former 6th floor and Water Tower into luxury triplex 7200 sq ft
apartment. This project is unique and was complicated in terms of contract management and administration, the client negotiated to carry out
his own refurbishment on an existing development site, using his own team of consultants and contractors – making use of the principal
contractors hoist and access facilities and restricted access for deliveries over a limited contract period. Deliveries, plant and materials hand to
be manhandled and delivered piece small because of the restricted access 1m x 1.5m. All deliveries had to be coordinated with the rest of the
site (67 Apartments and hotel). Fixtures, fittings were bespoke made and special pieces commissioned. The building contract was extended to
enable the co-ordination of deliveries of furniture and fittings through a major construction site and partially occupied building.

Design and Listed Planning Consent for rear Garden Room Extension to Private Residence, Re roofing, re-wiring and redecorating with New

Harrington Gardens SW7:
Design and Listed Planning Consent for £2.2m Conversion of 7000sq ft 2 floor Grade II* Listed building Designed and Built by Ernest, George
and Peto from offices back into a luxury house, for Portman Heritage.
As a Grade II* building to agree the scope of the work there were a number of consultations with the Conservation Officer and English Heritage.
prior to the Listed Approval being granted.
Internal Strip out contract and External work refurbishment contracts were negotiated to remove office partitions and services, re- roof, repair
and clean brickwork, stonework and leaded lights windows. Repair and mantenane of existing gutters and downpipes. Cleaning and CCTV
surveys of existing drainage. Repair of existing painted windows, leaded light windows and chimney stacks, that included new leadwork and
flashings, new chimney pots and flue linings
KTA were Project Architects, CDM Design Co coordinators, Party Wall Surveyors.

£1.8m Conversion of 6 storey. Georgian Grade 2 Building Grade from Offices back to 6 bedroom 6 bathroom single residential unit with new lift
from basement – 4th floor, for Portman Heritage.
KTA were Project Architects, CDM Design Co coordinators, Party Wall Surveyors. The design required coordination of extensive structural
repair works, underpinning structural modifications for a new. All new services with automatic Building Control systems and Audio Visual
integration into the existing building fabric

Campden Hill Court: £200,000 Refurbishment of Mansion Block Flat, the kitchen was relocated in the apartment and the layout re-configured
to provide 3 Bedroom apartment with en suite facilities plus a guest cloakroom.
Heathrow Sofitel Hotel Teminal 5. – Allard & Fils.
Karen Thatcher advised Allard & Fils a Belgium sub contractor on their Health & Safety plan and methodology for the work sequences for the
proposed stone cladding and acoustic glazing of the new Sofitel Hotel linked to Terminal 5.
The plan had to encompass off site manufacture in Belgium,quality control and testing, delivery and site erection on a very restricted site, with
Laing O’Rourke as Principal Contractor.
Welsh National Assembly Building Cardiff: - Allard & Fils
Karen Thatcher advised Allard & Fils a Belgium sub contractor on their Health & Safety Plan and methodology for the work sequences for the
proposed external hard landscaping packages to roadways and pedestrian areas for the complex, also assisting in writing Health & Safety
Plans and methods statements for main contractor approval.
Hillingdon Borough Football Club: Ruislip.
KTA are Architects and CDM Coordinators for the proposed £1.5m extension and refurbishment of existing club and provision of improved
facilities to FA design standards.
The all weather pitch was built and is operational, the clubhouse has been refurbished, but the extension is on hold pending funding since 2008.
Private House: Playden East Sussex: Planning/ Listed Building Consent and Architects for new Garages, external garden walls and
Swimming Pool/ Gymnasium complex for a Grade 2 Queen Anne 4 storey House. Consultative advice on defective as built installations by
directly appointed contractors.
Private House: Biddenden Kent: Planning/ Listed Building Consent and Architects for 3 new Garages, Granny Annexe/Gymnasium complex.

Sunlight Projects Ltd: Tower Bridge Road. London.
KTA assisted designers Arcitectus in providing detailed design of internal residential flat layouts and detailed design and co-ordination of the
roof, external stone and glazed cladding and balcony works packages, including Building Regulations and Section 20 approvals for 150,000 sqft
mixed commercial and residential development.
Garrard Co Ltd: 2001 – 2002.
KTA were the Architects, Planning Supervisors, Party Wall Surveyors and Contract Administrators for the £2.2m building refurbishment and new
£1.8m retail fit out for the new Garrard flagship store in Albemarle Street, London W1.
Repairs were made to the existing roof, new lift motor room above roof level, cleaning and restoration of stone façades, sash windows restored.
New bespoke Powder Coated Stainless Steel doors and display windows. New rear staff security entrance
Back of house areas were completely refurbished, fitted out with purpose built furniture and fittings plus specialist Silver and Clock workshops,
All existing services were replaced new power supply added to boost the existing to the building and comfort cooling installed to all areas.
The retail design concept was by Waldo Works. KTA coordinated the shopfitting with Benbow Interiors, detail design, services and security.

Private House: Horsemonden Kent: 2001-2002 Planning and designers for refurbishment, double storey extension and roof conversion to
private house to provide new dining/breakfast room, new kitchen, utility room, cloakroom, master bedroom suite, en-suite dressing room and
bathroom, roof conversion to provide studio, gym area, bathroom and double bedroom.
R&S Sales, Staplehurst:
2002. KTA were project managers for a 10,000sqm new office and warehouse centre for R&S Sales who are Petrol Station Forecourt
Friskies Petcare UK Ltd,(now Purina) completed March 2001, European headquarters in New Malden: KTA acted as Architects and Project
The refurbishment was to top 4 floors of an occupied an 8 storey building that required decanting on a floor by floor basis upgrading electrical
supplies, fire detection, installation of new heating ventilation system, data wiring and staff facilities to each floor. The top floor had staff kitchen,
restaurant, shop, and computer suite.
The ground and first floor reception areas were also refurbished and fitted out in a second stage contract.
