Zone Alarm Pro is free trial firewall software, which is easy-to-use Internet security product that detects and controls both inbound and outbound Internet traffic on your computer, protecting you from known and unknown threats. Installation & set up Having completely down loaded the free trial version of Zone Alarm Pro Firewall protection. Now we need to installed it and setup The following is a set of panels that shows step by step in installing and setting up: 1-Installation

Configuration These 3 panels allow setting the configuration as you need (privacy control, firewall alerts, and setting your password)

Click finish – for configuration complete

Getting Started - There are 9 steps:

Main Tab (Overview) Overview tell you that your system is protected by ZoneAlarm Pro and all active in and out through Internet access Block instruction: Number of instruction have been block since install and the rated of that Instruction Inbound Proctection: The firewall has blocked number of access attempts Outbound Protection: The number of programs secured for Internet access E-mail Protection: MailSafe is currently active, number of e-mail attachments quarantined

Main Tab (Firewall)-Firewall protects you from dangerous traffic. It has three Zones. Internet Zone: protect from unknown computers and it has three modes High – Stealth mode. Your computer is hidden and protected from Hackers. Sharing is not allowed. This setting is recommended for the Internet Zone. Med – Visible but protected mode computer can see your computer But cannot share resources. The incoming NetBios is NetBios is blocked. This setting is recommend for Temporary uses in the Internet Zone. Low – Caution! Firewall is off Trusted Zone: For sharing with trusted computers High - Stealth mode. Your computer is hidden and protected from Hackers. Sharing is not allowed. This setting is recommended for the Internet. Med - Sharing mode, Computers can see your computer and share

its resources. This setting is recommended for the Trusted Zone Low – Caution! Fire is off Block Zone: For shutting out untrusted computers Block Zone – No communication is allowed through this Zone

Custom setting sets custom security levels for the Internet/Trusted Zone. High security blocks all network traffic except authorized program traffic and traffic indicated by a check mark. Advanced setting dialog box to establish global network and security settings.

Main Tab (Program Control) Choose a program control turn the Automatic Internet Lock on or off. Turn Advanced Program Control on or off. Program Control: High- Advance protection mode Med- Program asks for Internet and server rights. Component control Is in the learning mode Low- Program is in the learning mode. Component control Is in the learning mode. Off- Program control is off. Component is off. Custom settting: ZoneAlarm Pro enables you to manage the details of your Internet security. Automatic Lock: Enable/Disable the automatic lock if you leave your Computer online and unattended for long periods

Main Tab (Alerts & Logs Tab) What types of informational alerts ZoneAlarm Pro will display (all, high-rated only, or none). What types of informational alerts ZoneAlarm Pro will log. What types of program alerts ZoneAlarm Pro will log. Note Program alerts are always displayed, because they ask you to decide whether to grant program access or not. Alert Event Shown High - show all alerts Medium – Show only high rated alerts Off – Do not show any information alerts Event Logging On – Event logging is enabled Off – Event logging is disabled Program Logging High – Log all program alerts Medium – Log only high rate program alerts Low – Do not log any program alerts Advance button to open the Advanced Alerts and Log Settings dialog box. There you can: Specify alert display and logging by traffic type (Alert Events tab) Enable or disable the system tray icon alert (System Tray Alert)

Configure your ZoneAlarm Pro log and set the archiving frequency (Log Control tab)

Main Tab (Privacy Panel) use this tab to select general settings for cookie control, ad blocking, and mobile code control. Cookies Control High – Block all but session cookies, may prevent some sites from loading Med – Block cookies from tracking sites, allows cookies for personalize service. Off – cookies is disable (Allows all cookies) Ad Block High –Block all banner ads, and block all pop up Med – Block ads that do not load in few seconds. Block all pop up Pop under and animated ads Off - Ad blocking disabled, allows all ads Mobile Code Control On – Mobile code control is enable, block embed objects, mine Objects, scripts, choose Custom to block javascripts Off - Mobile code control is disable, allow embed objects, scripts

Main Tab (E-mail Protection) E-mail Protection Use this tab to turn MailSafe protection on or off. MailSafe Setting On – On Off – MailSafe is enabled

Finally, at this point I can go to Alerts & Logs to check LogViewer. It provides me the Date/Time, Type, the web address and the raking rate of who is trying to visit my computer. With this information, my computer has successfully installed personal firewall ZoneAlarm Pro
