Villa Park Rotary Club Newsletter – 12/4/08 Good Morning All, I have been told that I should get to the facts in a more expedient manner. To avoid confusion, I will provide the most up to date information on the most important concerns of the club: To Wit: The Holiday Party will be held December 17th, (Wednesday evening). It is requested that attendees bring a $10 gift for an exchange. This apparently is not to be a “gag gift”. If you come as a couple, and both want to participate, you should bring two $10 gifts. Secondly, Steve Stern will host his Latka party as an open house Christmas Eve, starting at about 6:00PM. All are welcome. The next Fireside Chat will be scheduled in January or February. Finally, Joe Brandt is hosting a party on Friday, December 19th at 7:00PM. This weeks meeting began with the normal introductions, including Bill (new councilman) Macalony thanking the club for the support. In addition to other guests, Milt acknowledged that he was the secrete greeter and caught , among others, Leslie and Ellen. Birthday and anniversary acknowledgements included both Sylvan and Eric, with respect to birthdays of their respective spouses, Steve Kawa on his 37th anniversary and John Bassard on reaching his 66th year. This Thanksgiving, members of our club hosted a number of US Marines. All that participated (Neil, Brad, and others), indicated a very positive and rewarding experience. In total, 59 marines were hosted by the district. Items of Note: 1. Bruce received his badge, (better late then never). 2. Bob Kreisburg’s brother pleaded a case at the US Supreme Court. 3. Steve Stern will NOT be responsible for Octoberfest next year. He will, however, assist. 4. A new VPRC nominated list of next year’s board will be presented at next weeks meeting. 5. Bob Kreisburg donated $200 in gifts to Ronald McDonald House in the name of VPRC. 6. Marsha has returned to the club for a few weeks before traveling back to Nevada. 7. Bob Bell is doing fine however he is still in the hospital. 8. Teri’s mother is also doing fine following a heart episode. 9. Brad is pushing to double the existing salary of City Council Members.
