Our Mandarin Annive rsary
The season of mandarins is upon us! So easy to peel, so sweet, seedless, and healthy — what is not to love about a mandarin? O n their Twin Brooks Farm in Loomis, Jan and Francis Thompson have lots of mandarin trees that are just bursting with fruit. Jan sa ys the season promises to be an early and bountiful one this year, so there should be plenty of mandarins to satisfy even the mandarin fanatics out there. At Newcastle Produce, you can buy loose mandarins by the pound, or in 10 - p o u n d b a g s . And just lik e last year, we can ship 10 - o r 2 5- pound boxes of mandarins to your family and friends far and near. You won’t have to lug the b oxes to the post office, and your loved ones will appreciate this delicious gift from Placer County. See Page 2 for details and the order form. Or visit us online at www. newcastleproduce.net, fill it out there, and we’ll do the math! SWEET ANNIVERSARY Mandarin season is extra sweet for us here at Newcastle Produce. The sight of those orange jewels dangling from the branches outside our store reminds us of the day we opened, three years ago, on November 1, 1999. Since then, our store has changed and grown in so many ways. And we have been ble ssed with loyal and enthusiastic customers like you, who spread the word about our store to friends and neighbors, share great recipes with us, call us with ideas for new products, and support our efforts to sustain the Placer County agriculture that makes this area so unique and beautiful. We are certainly counting our blessings this Thanksgiving season. CELEBRATE WITH US We hope you will join us for one of our many events this month to celebrate our anniversary, including the honey tasting on Nov. 2, the cheesecake tasting on Nov. 9, and Cathy’s Candy Class on Nov. 14. (We are doing our part to get you r stomach in shape for that big turkey dinner!) This year, the all -i m p o r t a n t Mandarin Festival is Nov. 23- 24 at the Gold Countr y Fairgrounds in Auburn. Our store will be open both days to celebrate this Newcastle tradition, and we hope you will stop in fo r a visit! We will also have a booth at the festival — C o m e by and visit us, and pick up a box or bag of mandarins from us. You ca n also place your order there for Mandarin Gift Boxes! We hope to see you soon!
