					Scenario : Hurricanes
       By: Rachel B.
What is a hurricane?

• A Hurricane is a severe tropical storm that
forms in the North Atlantic Ocean, the
North Pacific Ocean on the east side of the
dateline, and the South Pacific Ocean east
 of 160E.
There are four types of hurricanes
here are some of them…
• Typhoon
• Severe tropical cyclone
• Severe cyclonic storm This is a typhoon!
• Tropical cyclone
How bad are hurricanes?

• Hurricanes can damage many houses,
office buildings, and places that hold
things like food and water, for instance
your local grocery stores. For example
Hurricane Katrina was a category five
storm that hit many things and left most
people with nothing that lived by the Gulf
 of Mexico.
Wind speeds for hurricanes.

• Category one- 74-95mph
• Category two- 96-110mph
• Category three- 110-130mph
• Category four- 131-155mph
• Category five- 155mph mostly
• WOW THAT’S ALMOST AS FAST AS
 SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How are they problems?

• As I said in the last slide many people lose
everything they own in hurricanes. Only
few lucky people find things that belonged
to them before the storm. Many people
don’t understand that when they live
down near the water they have a huge
chance of being hit by a hurricane.
How do you stay safe?
• To avoid getting hurt in a hurricane make sure
you stay away from low-lying and flood prone
areas. Always stay inside a house or shelter to
avoid getting hit with flying debris. If you live in
a mobile home you should get out and move to
a safer place. If your house isn't high off the
ground move to a shelter. Lastly if an official
says to evacuate the building move VERY
  quickly.
Keeping supplies just-in-case.
• To help be prepared for a hurricane store water,
and maybe a few snacks that wont mold over
time, like fruit snack. YUM! It doesn’t matter
what you decide to pack just make sure you
bring enough to last about 5-10, or 5-12 days
long. So just pack the stuff you decide on, a
couple flashlight, and blankets into maybe a
trash bag or something, and you will be safer
  than if you had nothing.
YOU DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• NOW YOU KNOW WHAT TO
  DO IN-CASE OF A
  HURRICANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!
  congratulations!
