Policy 100.1 – Tobacco Use

POLICY No tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and smokeless tobacco, may be used inside any University of Montana Western campus building nor within 25 feet outside any building. The one exception to this policy is the use of smokeless tobacco products in the private rooms of students in the residence halls or family housing.

II. PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to protect the health of nonsmokers in and around State-owned or controlled buildings. III. PROCEDURES A. Advertising & Promotion Involving Tobacco Products For any University-related event or activity, the University of Montana Western will not: 1. Use tobacco products (name, trademark, or logo) in advertisements and promotions for, or as sponsors of, any University event or activity, regardless of location. Use any University logo, trademark, or name in conjunction with tobacco products or symbols. Make tobacco the focus of any University event, or use availability of tobacco products to promote any University event.
