Mission:
Roxbury Community College Foundation, Inc.’s (the Foundation) mission is to seek and distribute resources to support and benefit the students, programs, activities and facilities of Roxbury Community College (the College) of Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for the benefit of the College and its students. In accordance with Massachusetts public law regarding the establishment of foundations for the benefit of institutions of higher education, the Board of Directors of the College has certified the Foundation as the official foundation and sole fundraising agent for non-government funds for the College. In the event the College revokes the certification, the Foundation may no longer use the name of the College for fundraising or any purpose without the written permission of the College. The College's accounting policies and financial statement presentation are governed by standards issued by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Consistent with the provisions of GASB Statement Nos. 14 and 39, the financial information of the Foundation will be presented in the financial statements of the College as a component unit. The Foundation is exempt from Federal income taxes as a not-for-profit organization (not a private foundation) formed for charitable purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation is also exempt from state income taxes. Donors may deduct contributions made to the Foundation within the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code.

Volunteer Opportunities: Board Member
Responsibilities: 1. Attend all board and committee meetings and functions, such as special events. 2. Be informed about the organization's mission, services, policies, and programs. 3. Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings. 4. Serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments. 5. Make a personal financial contribution to the organization. 6. Inform others about the organization. 7. Suggest possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization 8. Keep up-to-date on developments in the organization's field. 9. Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies. 10. Refrain from making special requests of the staff. 11. Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the organization's annual financial statements. Activities Include: Monthly board meeting- 1 hour Committee meeting- Every other month- 1 hour Attendance at fundraising events- At least once a quarter Requirements: Expertise in either finance, health care, biotechnology, green technology, real estate, workforce development/ fundraising and/ or access to funders Time Commitment: Approximately 1-2 hours a month

Volunteer Opportunities: Site Support gives you the chance to focus your attention on a particular school (or initiative). Activities Include: • Providing recommendations/ access to vendors relationships such as contractors • Donations of Furniture • Office Equipment • Supplies • Corporate volunteers participating in fund raising or school sponsored events Requirements: None

Volunteer Opportunities: Student Support lets you and your employees mentor students directly. Some Partners make a long-term commitment to tutoring, others sponsor or lead field trips. All Partners get to experience the real joy of directly participating in student's lives.
