Quality Assurance
Sampling, testing and checking procedures shall be recorded on a daily basis (i.e. indicating day, month, year) including corrective actions taken by the Contractor if necessary. Reports and records shall be available to the Engineer not later than three (3) days after testing and checking. Reports and records shall be established and maintained in a manner to ensure traceability.

Qualifications
Contractor’s site supervisor shall have knowledge of referenced standards and at least five (5) years of documented experience in works related to the installation of plumbing fixtures and related components. Installers shall be familiar with the material and installation procedures indicated and shall be skilled and trained.

Part 2:
General

Products

Sanitary fixtures shall have smooth impervious surfaces, be free from defects and concealed fouling surfaces, and shall conform in quality and design to one of the standards mentioned in this specification Each fixture and device used shall have cast, stamped, or indelibly marked on it the maker’s mark or name and the type of the product, when such marking is required by the approved standard that applies. All fixtures shall be new and of first quality, free from scale, lamination and other defects. Flexible wall supplies shall be with wheel handle control stop, escutcheon and flexible tube riser. Sizes and colours of sanitary fixtures shall be as specified in the Project Documents.

Sanitary Fixtures
Water Closets
Eastern Water Closet
Eastern toilets shall be made of vitreous china, stoneware or porcelainenamelled cast iron, rectangular shape with integral foot-treads, designed to mount flush with the floor finish unless otherwise indicated. Eastern toilets shall be provided with built-in or separate tar-coated or china “P” trap, a quiet flushing, non-hold-open piston type with vacuum breaker or approved equal flushing device and a spray assembly unit consisting of a flexible hose, nozzle with aerator, mounting bracket, exposed vacuum breaker and self-closing push-button valve. When specified in the project Documents, water closets may be provided with a flush tank, high-level wall mounted, complete with float assembly, pull chain, plastic or other approved material flush pi[e and connector, or a quiet action flush valve with angle stop valve. The plastic flush pipe shall be protected against damage.

Western Water Closet
Western water closets shall be made of vitreous china, siphon jet, floor mounted or wall hung elongated bowl type. Western water closets shall be provided with built in “P” trap, top cistern with flush valve, plastic or any other approved material seat, brass holding bolts, washers, nuts, china caps. If required in the Project Documents, the spray assembly shall be as described in 2 02 01 01. Western water closets shall be provided either with a quiet action flush valve or flush tank, as specified in the Project Documents. The closets shall be provided with seats of smooth non-absorbent material unless otherwise indicated.

2 02 02

Urinals
Flush valve wall mounted urinals shall be vitreous china blow-out and/or siphon jet type with top cistern and “P” trap complete with all hangers. Flush valves shall be chrome-plated, with metal oscillating lever handle, screw-driver angle supply stop, vacuum breaker, flush connection or coupling for top cistern with wall and cistern flanges.

Bidets
Bidets shall be vitreous china, floor mounted type with flushing rim, spray, integral overflow. Bidets shall be provided with combination type supply fixture with vacuum breaker, holding bolts, washers, nuts, and china caps. “P” trap shall be made of chrome-plated cast brass with cleanout plug.

Basins
Wall Hung Type
Wall hung type made of vitreous china, punched for concealed wall hangers, with tap holes centre-set with spray spout. Lavatory basins shall be supplied with supply fixtures with handle stops, and “P” traps made of chrome-plated cast brass or approved equal material with cleanout plug. Strainer made of copper alloy or corrosion-resistant steel. Taps shall have replaceable seats and the stem of valve disc shall rotate onto the seat.

Countertop Type
Countertop lavatory basins made of vitreous china, oval, round or rectangular type with splashlip overflow, and tap holes centre-set with spray spout. See 2 02 04 01

2 02 04 03

Sink Cabinet Type
Sink cabinet of the single or double compartment type shall be made of stainless steel with rounded corners. All exposed surfaces shall be satin finished. Undersides shall be undercoated. Sink cabinet shall be provided with hot and cold wheel handle stop valves, waste fittings with “P” trap and strainer complete with basket. Free standing sink type lavatory basins shall be supported on four stainless steel legs or other approved equal. Taps shall be cast, formed or drop-forged copper alloy and shall be provided with replaceable seats or replaceable internal units.

Bath Tubs
Bath tubs shall be made of enamelled cast iron, enamelled steel or plastic or any other approved material with nonskid bottom. Tubs shall be provided with a connected overflow and waste with plug. Bath tubs shall be provided with a combination shower and bath fitting. Shower head shall be complete with spray, escutcheon and arm, and, if indicated in the Project Documents, with an adjustable spray and flow restrictor. All exposed parts shall be polished chrome-plated.

Section

Bath tubs shall provided with mixing valve with integral check stops. Valve body made of bronze with brass or any other approved material wall plate.

2 02 06

Eye Washers
A complete assembly with eyewash fountain, piping, platform and railing. The eye washer shall be provided with non-corrosive cleanable soft spray head with self-closing valve and handle, bronze finish with epoxy coating, or other approved equal materials.

2 02 07

Sinks
Sinks shall be single or double compartment, made of enamelled cast iron, enamelled steel or of stoneware. Sinks shall be provided with the following: Mounting flange, or tubular legs with adjustable bullet shaped feet, if required. Combination sink tap centre-set with swing spout with vacuum breaker. All parts shall be chrome-plated. Kitchen sinks shall be provided with drain boards. Underside of compartment and drain board shall be undercoated when made of cast iron or steel. Stainless steel sinks shall be of satin finish with underside undercoated for sound dampening. Compartments and tap deck shall be recessed below outside edge of sink. The mixer shall be provided with a gooseneck swing spout and aerator mounted on common deck base. The waste fitting shall be of the duo strainer type complete with a conical basket. Sinks shall be provided with a solids interceptor, floor mounted with threaded inlet and outlet connections, if specified in the Project Documents.

Showers
Wall mounted type showers shall be with adjustable stream, self-cleaning head of a heavy cast brass construction with chrome-plated finish. Showers shall be provided with a built-in non-scalding balanced piston mixing valve with integral check stops, replaceable operating cartridge and maximum temperature limit stop, the valve body made of bronze, with chrome-plated brass wall plate and control handle, or approved equal mixing fixtures.

Bath Accessories
Bath room shall be provided with crystal glass mirrors, with guaranteed coating and chromed mirror clips, toilet-roll holders, towel holders, shelves, and waste paper baskets.

2 02 10

Sanitary Rooms for Handicapped
Bathrooms and lavatories for handicapped shall be designed to fulfil the requirements of the relevant patients. Bathtubs shall be located in the bathroom to allow the attendant to get all around it. Lavatories shall receive provisions for the special functions required by the patient, such as automatically controlled water supply valves and flushometers, soap dispensers and handles.

Laboratory Basins
Laboratory Basins shall be made of soap stone, acid-resistant stoneware or acid-resistant enamelled cat iron with enamelled steel supports and levelling screws. Laboratory basins shall be provided with:

Part 3: Execution

General Examination
Examine roughing-in for potable, cold-water and hot-water supply piping systems; soil, waste, and vent piping systems; and supports. Verify that locations and sizes of piping and locations and types of supports match those indicated, before installing and connecting fixtures. Use manufacturer's roughing-in data when roughing-in data are not indicated.

General Preparation
Include supports for plumbing fixtures. Include fitting insulation for accessible fixtures.

3 03 01

Installation
General
01.0 Assemble plumbing fixtures and trim, fittings, faucets, and other components according to manufacturers' written instructions. 02.0 Install fixtures level and plumb according to manufacturers' written instructions, roughing-in drawings, and referenced standards. 03.0 Install wall-hanging, back-outlet water closets with support of manufacturer's tiling frame or setting gage. 04.0 Install toilet seats on water closets. 05.0 Fasten wall-hanging plumbing fixtures securely to supports attached to building substrate when supports are specified, and to building wall construction where no support is indicated. Provide reinforcement and attachments where needed. 06.0 Set shower receptors and mop basins in leveling bed of cement grout. 07.0 Install individual stop valve in each water supply to fixture. 08.0 Exception: Omit stop valves on supplies to emergency equipment, except when permitted by the Engineer. When permitted, install valve chained and locked in OPEN position. 09.0 Install water-supply stop valves in accessible locations. 10.0 Install traps on fixture outlets. Omit traps on fixtures having integral traps. Omit traps on indirect wastes, except where otherwise indicated. 11.0 Install escutcheons at wall, floor, and ceiling penetrations in exposed, finished locations and within cabinets and millwork. Use deep-pattern

3 03 02

Connections
01.0 Supply and Waste Connections to Equipment Specified in Other Sections: Connect equipment with supply inlets, supply stops, supply risers, and traps specified in this Section. 02.0 Use fitting sizes required to match connected equipment. Connect fittings to plumbing piping.

3 03 03

Ground Equipment
01.0 Tighten electrical connectors and terminals according to manufacturer's published torque-tightening values. 02.0 Arrange for electric-power connections to fixtures and devices that require power. Electric power is specified in Division 16 Sections.

3 04

Field Quality Control
Check that fixtures are complete with trim, faucets, fittings, and other specified components. Inspect installed fixtures for damage. Replace damaged fixtures and components. Test installed fixtures after water systems are pressurised and demonstrate proper operation. Replace malfunctioning fixtures and components, then retest.

Adjusting and Cleaning
Operate and adjust faucets and controls. Replace damaged and malfunctioning fixtures, fittings, and controls. Operate and adjust any other equipment, and controls. Replace damaged and malfunctioning units and controls. Repeat procedure until units operate properly. Replace washers and seals for leaking and dripping faucets and stops. Clean fixtures, faucets, and other fittings with manufacturers' recommended cleaning methods and materials. Include the following: Remove faucet spouts and strainers, remove sediment and debris, and reinstall strainers and spouts. Remove sediment and debris from drains.

Demonstration
Note: State requirements to demonstrate operation and maintenance of equipment to the employer’s personnel including special training if necessary.

Protection
Provide protective covering for installed fixtures and fittings.
