ABERDEEN CITY SERVICES Volunteer Opportunities within Alzheimer Scotland
Volunteer Information Sheet 1
Initial Enquiry
Thank you for your interest in being a Volunteer with Alzheimer Scotland. This information sheet is to assist you in thinking where you feel your life experiences and talents would be best suited and where we can mutually benefit each other.
Nationally
Membership:- Being a member of Alzheimer Scotland is perhaps the least time consuming way of volunteering. By adding your name to the thousands of other members. We can make a difference to Public Policies, which affect our client group. Helpline:- The agency runs a 24 hour helpline staffed by volunteers on a rota basis. This is ideal for those who live in remote areas or who work shifts and have some experience of working with the client group. If this interest you please contact National Office on 0131 243 1453 or via the website www.alzscot.org
Regionally
Fundraising
This is done at a regional level. Within the Grampian and Tayside region we have a fundraising manager who needs volunteers to assist in many aspects of fundraising. From shaking a tin outside a supermarket to stewarding at varied events and sometimes raising money by being involved in extreme sports or local events. If fundraising interests you please contact Moira Lawrence on 01382 530396.

Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 allows people who have been convicted of certain criminal offences to regard their conviction as "spent" after a period of years. This means that, in general, no reference need be made to the conviction or any circumstances relating to it. Because of the nature of the voluntary work for which you are applying, however, this post may be excepted from the provision of the Act. You are therefore required not to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provision of the Act. In the event of recruitment as a volunteer any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action. Any information given will be considered only in relation to applications to become a volunteer where such an exception is appropriate. I have read and understood the above and have the following convictions to disclose: Tick if none
Please note that all successful candidates who may work with people with dementia will be subject to a criminal conviction check through Disclosure Scotland. The information in this application is a true record of my personal situation. Signature: Date:
Thank you very much for applying to be an Alzheimer Scotland volunteer; we will be in contact with you as soon as possible. Please return this form to: Alzheimer Scotland 27 Huntly Street Aberdeen AB10 1TJ
