IAB To Get Involved in 'Get In Get On' Scheme
The International Association of Bookkeepers will be getting involved in the brand new virtual work
experience scheme, Get In Get On.
Online PR News – 19-April-2013 – Get In Get On is a brand new scheme that has been setup to enable
young people to increase their knowledge of the finance sector. Through the scheme young people will be
able to gain real-life work experience through attending work placements.
As work placements can be difficult to arrange due to time and resource issues, Get In Get On has provided
an innovative solution. Their scheme will deliver the key skills that are gained through attending work
placements in a ‘virtual environment’. Their learning programme is delivered online through a special
‘e-career mentoring platform’. These virtual work placements will last for 1 month.
They are currently looking for companies to become volunteer ‘e-career mentors’ to show young people what
their industry looks like from ‘the inside’.
Chief Executive Malcolm Trotter believes the initiative is a great way to help young people take their first
steps in their chosen careers. He said: “It is well known that it can be difficult to find a traditional work
placement and to create a good match for both the employer and the individual. This innovative development
is seeking to address these challenges and the IAB wishes to support it”.
The aim of this scheme is ultimately to enhance the future prospects of those looking to enter the finance
industry by providing them will the skills needed to be more confident, competent and capable.
